Acts 3:6-10
6 But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” 7 And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. 8 And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
Verses 7 today has made lots of sense to me. It talks to me about empowerment. It started with prayer and act of healing. The man got healed. BUT Peter didn't just stop there. He took him by his right hand and raised him up
As ministers of the gospel, praying for people for breakthrough is not in itself enough. We need to go a step further into what can be called discipleship. This will lead into discovery of what Grace is all about over time.
At Life Transformation Network-Kenya, we aspire to hold people's hands as we engage in Financial Discipleship. After realizing that we are affected by systemic poverty, we teach on biblical stewardship and also help raise micro capital to help budding and aspiring entrepreneurs and businesspeople. As we target teen mothers, widows, skilled youths and local pastors. This boosts their economic wellbeing.
Just like the beggar who had never known the sweetness of worshipping God. He was so much focused on his poverty and therefore no joy or desire of worshipping God. Immediately his hand was held and gained the strength, he entered the temple to worship God. In our land poverty is affecting our spiritual life. We want to lift God's people.
