WORD OF HOPE

(Episode 2)

Never Give Up!

Challenges and problems of life are indispensable. They will always come uninvited. But they will also go away and leave us alone if we refuse to let them make our life a place of permanent abode.

Many people have allowed failure, poverty, setbacks, sickness, disease and other life challenges to settle permanently into their lives. But what they don't realize is that 'whatever you don't want, you must not watch."

We cannot stop life's problems and challenges from coming our way, but we can choose and decide not to allow them stay. There is no problem or challenge that can overcome you without your consent.

If you don't give up, the monster of failure, poverty, sickness, disease and setbacks trying to swallow you and your destiny up will eventually get tired, give up and leave you alone. We must brace up to wage war against whatever challenges and problems life throws our way. We must not allow such a challenge to rest until it leaves our life.

We all face challenges in life, but how we respond to those challenges differentiates us from one another. While some give up too easily, others stand strong, refusing to be defeated and swallowed up even when facts on the ground point otherwise.

Proverbs 24:10 says, "if you faint in the days of adversity, your strength is small." Likewise, in Isaiah 43:2, God promises never to let us down. He said when we pass through the waters, he will be with us; and through the rivers, we will not be drown. When we walk through the fire, we shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon us.

Conceding defeat or giving up only means one thing – and that is agreeing to subject oneself to a life of misery, torture, pain, sadness and failure. Giving up can be likened to self-incarceration or self-imprisonment.

This piece has, however, been written to motivate those faced with tough life challenges that is, hell-bent on swallowing them up whether in their finances, health, career, academics, relationship or marriage, not to give up without a fight. When you refuse to give up, the monster of failure trying to swallow you up will eventually get tired and leave you alone. The pictorial illustration below this write up tells the story.

With consistent prayers, fasting and service, the enemy trying to swallow you up will eventually get tired and leave you alone once you don't give up, because you are not the only one getting tired, the problem trying to swallow you up is also getting tired of holding on. Hold on a little more; and you will soon be free! Shalom!
