"If It Had Not Been the Lord"
Scripture: Psalm 124:1–8

"If it had not been the Lord who was on our side—let Israel now say—if it had not been the Lord who was on our side when people rose up against us..." (Psalm 124:1–2)

Reflection:
Psalm 124 is a song of testimony. It invites us to look back and recognize the hand of God in our survival. David doesn't say, “We were smart,” or “We were strong.” He says plainly: “If it had not been the Lord...”

The psalm recalls times of danger, when enemies rose up, when floodwaters threatened, when life was fragile. And yet, God delivered His people. This is not just about national rescue—it's about personal stories too. Think of the moments when you felt overwhelmed, attacked, or nearly undone. You're still here, not by chance or strength, but because God was on your side.

Verse 8 sums it up: “Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” That’s not just poetic—it’s deeply practical. The God who made everything is also personally involved in your life. He’s not distant. He’s present, active, and faithful.

Application:
Today, pause and look back. Where would you be if the Lord had not helped you? Where would your family, your faith, or your sanity be without Him? Let Psalm 124 stir a heart of gratitude and confidence. The same God who brought you through before is the one who walks with you now.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being on my side when I didn’t even realize I needed saving. Help me never to forget Your faithfulness. I place my trust in You again today. Amen.
