Come and See: Andrew’s Way
Text: John 1:35–42
Today, I want to take you to a simple story—one that doesn’t get too much spotlight, but it has changed the course of history. It's the story of Andrew—one of the disciples of Jesus—and his decision that helped bring Simon Peter to Christ.
Andrew was not famous like Peter. He didn’t walk on water like Peter. He didn’t preach at Pentecost. But Andrew did one thing that made everything else possible:
He brought Peter to Jesus.
Just one conversation… one invitation… one step of obedience…
And the rest is history.
Now, in our world today, especially in this age of social media and smartphones, we have opportunities Andrew never had.
But the heart of the mission remains the same:
Come and See… then Go and Tell.
There are several thing I discovered here
1. Andrew Followed Jesus Personally (John 1:35–39)
The Bible says Andrew was a disciple of John the Baptist. But when John pointed out Jesus and said, “Look, the Lamb of God,” Andrew immediately followed Jesus.
Verse 39: “They went and saw where He was staying, and they spent that day with Him.”
Before Andrew invited anyone, he spent time with Jesus.
He experienced Him.
He was moved by who Jesus was.
He didn’t just hear a sermon—he had a personal encounter.
I was challanged to expereince time with Jesus personally,
Before we move ourself in mission—we must pause to personally encounter Jesus.
And yes we work on digital platform and
Digital tools are powerful, but only when they carry the life of Christ within us.
2. Andrew Invited Simon Intentionally (John 1:40–41)
“The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, ‘We have found the Messiah.’”
Andrew didn’t keep his discovery to himself.
He didn’t wait for a perfect moment.
He didn’t go through a long theological explanation.
The first thing he did was go to his brother.
He simply said, “We’ve found Him. Come and see.”
Today, many of us are like Andrew. We’ve found Jesus. We’ve experienced His grace.
Andrew walked to Simon.
What can we do ? to make the impact eternal.
3. Andrew's Small Action Led to a Great Impact (John 1:42)
“And he brought him to Jesus…”
That’s it.
No microphone. No crowd. No stage.
Just one person leading another person to Jesus. Helping to reallign
And that person—Simon Peter—became the rock on which Jesus would build His church.
we see, Andrew didn’t go Viral—but he helped someone who would. He helped Simon to allign with Christ
4. What Can We Learn from Andrew Today?
a. Don’t underestimate small beginnings.
A small initiative, Not the metric oriented but Impact Driven
b. Be intentional.
Andrew didn’t accidentally bring Simon. He looked for him.
Ask yourself:
Who is my Simon?
Who can I intentionally reach out to—today, this week
c. Be consistent.
Andrew appears 3 times in Scripture—and all 3 times, he is bringing someone to Jesus (Simon, the boy with 5 loaves, and Greeks in John 12). He had a habit of bringing people to Christ.
Let this be our legacy,
Thank You
