Humble as Christ

He knelt to wash the weary feet.
Though heaven’s throne was His own seat.
No crown of pride, no robe of boast,
But love that bent to serve the most.

“Though He was in very nature God,”
He chose the path the lowly trod.
*“He made Himself of no repute,”*
In silence, gentle, kind, and mute.
(Philippians 2:6–7)

He bore the cross without a plea,
No bitterness, no need to be
Exalted here or praised aloud—
The Lamb of God, yet meek and bowed.

*“Learn from Me,”* He softly said,
*“For I am gentle, lowly,” led
Not by the power of men or sword,
But by the Spirit of the Lord.
(Matthew 11:29)

To walk with Him, we must go low,
Where rivers of true mercy flow.
For in the meek, He plants His light,
And crowns the pure with Heaven’s might.

So let us serve, and not demand,
To lift the weak with gentle hand.
For Christ is found in quiet grace—
In those who seek the lowest place.
