LoopStudio + Trapezoid
We partnered with Trapezoid, a U.S.-based cybersecurity company specializing in firmware monitoring, to enhance the user experience of their Executive Dashboard. Our goal: simplify the way critical device data is presented and accessed without sacrificing depth.
The result was a validated design that helped analysts explore confidently and make faster decisions in a complex data environment.
CLIENT OVERVIEW
Trapezoid – Firmware Monitoring for Cybersecurity
Trapezoid’s platform gives security teams visibility into the firmware of enterprise devices like printers, servers, and smart equipment. It surfaces data on patch history, device lifecycle, compliance with NIST standards, and live event activity.
From this, users can assess risk posture, drill down into specifics, and generate detailed reports all within a single interface.
THE CHALLENGE
Simplifying Critical Data at Scale
As the platform evolved, Trapezoid faced a key question:
How do you guide users through a sea of layered, technical data without overwhelming them?
Their Executive Dashboard was meant to be the starting point. But instead of offering clarity, it often left users unsure where to focus. The challenge wasn’t about adding more features—it was about designing a better way to think through the data.
Key issues included:
- Presenting complex metrics in a clear, digestible format
- Helping users understand their next step at every layer
- Preserving technical depth while improving accessibility
OUR STRATEGY
Design Sprint for Alignment and Clarity to Streamline
To unpack the problem and co-create a meaningful solution, we led a week-long Design Sprint with Trapezoid’s team. This focused, collaborative process helped transform raw complexity into a user-centered design grounded in feedback and built for real-world use.
Team & Planning
- Loopstudio contributed two developers, a designer, and a Project Manager.
- Trapezoid brought in three stakeholders with deep knowledge of both the platform and its users.
- We reviewed documentation, architecture, and user behavior to map out real workflows and decision points.
Design Sprint Execution
- We mapped challenges and opportunities side by side.
- Together, we defined the dashboard structure and navigation logic.
- Using Figma, we created a clickable prototype that simulated user interaction.
- We tested the design with actual users to validate clarity and flow.
Feedback Loop
- Based on user feedback, we refined the design into a high-fidelity version that improved data hierarchy and helped users explore without friction.
BENEFITS
Clarity, Control, and Scalability
- A clean visual structure lets users filter by device type, surfacing only the data they need.
- Trapezoid’s T-Five stats are now front and center, giving instant visibility into system health.
- Analysts get the context they need without being buried in noise—helping them focus and act faster.
KEY LEARNINGS
- We deepened our understanding of firmware-level cybersecurity UX, a unique space within the industry.
- The Design Sprint shifted the client’s view of UX from a “nice-to-have” to a strategic tool for clarity and product impact.
- This project confirmed that even highly technical platforms can—and should—feel intuitive to navigate.
