Patients with flow-limitations in the iliac arteries (FLIA) complain from pain and powerlessness during maximal exercise. As such, we used the Lode Excalibur sport with pedal power measurement possibility to diagnose one-sided FLIA. We recently started a new research to look at individual power patterns to possibly identify FLIA in patients with complaints in both sides. Our goal is to detect sport-related vascular problems in athletes using pedal power measurements.

At the National Heart Centre Singapore, we have developed an exercise stress CMR protocol using the MR ergometer pedal to differentiate patients with exercise induced cardiac remodeling from early dilated cardiomyopathy; and patients presenting with chest pain and suspected ischemic heart disease.

The Angio ergometer is mounted in a special centrifuge of ESA which is used at Medes. This is a device with 4 arms with a total diameter of 6 meters. Horizontal beds are mounted on the arms in which test persons can be placed. Due to the centrifugal force generated during rotation, the test person experiences a force similar to standing up. We call this artificial gravity.
It is crucial that the ergometer can be checked and controlled from the control room.
