One morning, a woman awoke from a dream that changed her life.
In it, she held her hands up to the sky, and the universe rained down around her in torrents, and in that moment she saw the planets themselves were lost in their own mourning.
"Why are you crying?" she exclaimed. "You are the ground I walk on, the seas I bathe in, and the roof for which I may seek shelter should the sun become unbearable... Why are you so sad, when there is so much beauty for you to share?"
Ah, but the planets could not reply, because you see, a planet does not have its own voice; rather, it can only speak through the voices of the millions of beings walking upon it.
The woman could not hear, then, but she certainly could feel the overwhelming sadness of the mutes. "What can I do for you?" she pleaded.
A droplet of the universe rested itself into her outstretched hands. Within it she could hear a thousand voices crying, screaming, laughing, whispering. "Tell our story", their words echoed in her ears.
And then the woman woke.
Fifteen years later, she became a writer.
