We Lost Our Way.

image

We hated what we were,
We wanted something so rare,
We despised our very being,
And felt our essence was befitting for the bin.

We longed to be set free,
Only to be imprisoned by the chains of our desires,
We wish we had it all,
Forgetting we had it once.

Turncoat

image

Blood stains, teary eyes,
Broken Heart, a hurting spirit,
A heavy mind, a weary soul,
A broken hope, these are now my companions.

I thought I knew them,
So I helped them,
I thought I loved them,
So I saved them.

The Struggle.

Serve me, serve me,
He says to me,
Serve me, do my will and obey me,
He bids me.

But I have a way that suits me,
And a method that pleases me,
A thousand and one plans have I prepared me,
And a head full of ideas thou gavest me.

For Everything.

image

Same gift, a new day,
Lord I am thankful.
The sunlight and the fresh air,
For these I am grateful.

For the little, for the nothing,
Lord I am thankful.
For the few and the many,
For these I am grateful.

For Friends, for Family,
Lord I am thankful.
For foes and adversaries,
For these I am grateful.

My Prayer.

image

And when finally that day is come,
And my time among men is done,
Aloud may the gong be rung,
That a light upon the earth is gone.

Seasons in, seasons out,
May my presence cause fear to tap out,
To inspire and empower my friends down south,
May I do one last thing before my bow out.

Not just flesh, but all nature too,
May my song be heard among the gods too,
A willing vessel, Lord, use me as your tool,
Empty me, may I be a blessing to myself too.

it’s a beautiful world.

Self Discovery.

image

“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom”,  Aristotle once said, although, that statement can best be rivaled by the famous quote from the Holy Bible, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom…” Now, while philosophers and Bible scholars will have a field day in proving which quote holds more accurate, I can’t help but come to think and accept that there is wisdom in knowing oneself, whether it is the beginning or the middle or the tail of the wisdom’s ladder. No wonder one of the greatest philosophers to grace this brown earth famously said, “Know Thyself”.

Flames and Shadows.

I watched the candle burn in silence as I laid on my bed last night. Reeling from the shock of a terrible ordeal I had encountered, I kept wondering within me, how can a situation be so damn difficult to tackle. It felt like the situation was deliberately designed to confine me to the shadows.

It was quite disturbing.

Bravery or Stupidity.

It’s always so enormous a task to differentiate between bravery and sheer stupidity, and if ever it comes down to me giving an opinion, it’s always perplexing, to say the least, in pitching my tent.

Often times, I let the outcomes of various events swing the pendulum of decision to it seeming appropriate end and yet, times, most often, I remain scrupled with my stance.

I’m at seas to what we delineate as bravery and a train of questionable doubts, barge my feeble reins, to what we portray as foolishness. Perhaps, we let the result of every action influence our choice of answer. Yet, I ask why?

Alone.

Turning tirelessly on my bed,
I sought for peace I couldn’t find.
My mind, wandering from my being,
I could feel my sanity being placed on a beam.

The roof, carving in,
The four walls, closing in.
The drum beats became louder,
The nightmares became brighter.

Insanity.

The drum beats ceased,
The night cries stopped.

The full moon shone through the dark skies,
And for a moment,  I thought I was whole again.

I heard a voice,
I heard a sound.
