Prompt:None, another birthday drabble for Vicky Starfish!
Words:100
Harry wasn't usually one for thinking about the past. For the most part it was irrelevant, everyone had moved forward with their lives, but every so often it would strike him how much things had changed since his childhood. Take birthdays for example. Now he loved celebrating them, and mostly he had Ginny and the Weasleys to thank for that. He creeped up the stairs slowly, hoping he wouldn’t wake baby James with a creaking floorboard as he brought his wife breakfast in bed on her birthday. He wanted to make her birthday as special as she always made his.
Prompt:none, but its a birthday pressie for my sister VickyStarfish!

The day Ginny was dreading had started with breakfast in bed. Harry wasn't a great cook, but he could manage a very good fry up. The idea of going to work hadn't appealed, but the girls in the office had decorated her desk and bought in party food. Overall the day had been easy and unstressful. Dinner with her family had been loud and chaotic, just the way she liked it, and with her favourite chocolate cake for dessert. As she snuggled up in bed next to her husband she decided it hadn't been a bad 30th birthday at all!
I was watching HBP and this line stuck out:
“I like a nice chat before I go to bed. Now all you do is read that bloody book.” (Ron, HBP movie)
And I just couldn’t let it go without doing something with it! This is the result, enjoy!
Hermione stepped out of the hot shower and onto the cold bathroom floor. Drying herself off quickly in an attempt to stay warm she grabbed her pyjamas from the radiator where she had set them to warm and nipped across the landing quickly and into bed in record time.
After a long and stressful week in the office she was looking forward to the weekend. It was all planned out. Each day was carefully and specifically set aside for just one activity: sleep.
Curling in next to her husband she settled in quickly.
“How was your day sweetheart?”
It was dark. If Ron had seen the look on Hermione’s face as she glared at him, he’d have run for the hills.
“It was fairly quiet in the office today.” He continued, oblivious. “Gets kinda boring though. Next week should pick up, we’re starting the preparations for the World Cup; you know scouting locations and that. Looking forward to it actually. We’re all going to have to be on duty for the matches, I’m hoping I’ll get at least one game working in the stadium. You know? Just so I can say I was there.”
Hermione tried her best to tune him out, but somehow his voice kept wheedling its way around her barriers.
“I can’t believe Harry and Ginny are going to be parents in less than a month. Harry still looks really calm, I keep expecting him to suddenly panic. I kinda hope he does to be honest, I bet George five Galleons. Do you think it’s a boy or a girl? I don’t know what they’re thinking leaving it until the day, I’d want to know. What names do you think they have lined up? Do you think they’ll call it – “
“Ronald?” Hermione interrupted.
“Yeah, sweetheart?” Ron had missed her tone, yet again.
“Shut up!”

Harry wasn't sure if nostalgia was the right word, but there was something special about drinking butterbeer. That sweet buttery taste and the warmth in the lack of his throat from the hint alcohol was one of his favourites after a long hard week at work. The burn of Firewhiskey just couldn't compare to it. The only thing better than Butterbeer was the taste of Ginny's kisses after she'd had a bottle or two. His two favourite flavours in the world combined tasted like heaven - which itself was almost as good as Butterbeer body shots of his wife's athletic form.
Author's Note:
Again a different ending than what I originally imagined! Enjoy!

When Harry thought back to his time at school he was very aware of Ginny, in a way that he hadn't been at the time. She had always been there in the background, and not just as Ron's sister or Hermione's friend. Hindsight showed the influence she had had on him back then, and continued to have now they were adults. Her calming voice soothing his nightmares, her practical nature as they faced life's challenges together, and even her smile after a hard day at work. He didn't need a school lesson to know that he should propose to Ginny!
Author's Note:
Glad to be back, drabbling! I have missed it, even if RL has been a bit busy lately! This didn't go the way I thought it would, but I'm happy with the result.

Prompt: Merlin
Harry awoke the day after the Battle of Hogwarts and suddenly his life whole life flashed before his eyes.
No more Voldemort.
No more Horcruxes.
No more Death Eaters.
No more running.
He was going to find a nice little corner of England and settle down with Ginny by his side, maybe even a few children, and even pets, underfoot.
He could even see into his old age with his children and grandchildren running around. Harry made up his mind to emulate Ginny's Bilius and be the life and soul of the party - with a beard to rival Merlin’s!
AN: It's a bit random, but I tried to avoid the obvious and this is what I ended up with!

At Hogwarts, Harry always envied the students who received letters just a little bit. While he didn't want letters from the Dursleys, he was jealous that these students had people who loved them enough to write.
During the war he filled reams of parchment with what he told Hermione was notes, but were actually letters; some to Ginny in the hope she would one day get to read them, and some to his parents and Sirius when he felt he had no where else to turn.
As an Auror, he got letters all day - but none meant more than Ginny's.
AN: mwa ha ha - I'm back!! Sorry for the delay, I honestly didn't expect it to take me so long to get back to writing, but one MSc and a promotion later, here I am!

Dear Ginny,
If I don’t make it back from my mission I want you to know that I love you.
I can’t give you details about what we’re doing, but hopefully Ron and Hermione will make it back ok and they can fill you in.
I think about you everyday, you are what’s getting me through this – knowing that you’re at home waiting for me. I wasted so much time at Hogwarts when we could have been together; our six weeks together are the happiest of my life. You should know that you had me from Fresh Pickled Toad!
Harry
AN: Obviously set during the war – It’s a bit blunt because I’m limited on the words, but I can’t see Harry beating around the bush either!

Part 2.
Harry nearly choked on his dinner
“Another baby?” He managed eventually
“We always said we wanted a large family.” Ginny had been thinking about this all day and had her arguments pretty well planned out. “At least one of each remember? I know our kids are all really close with Teddy and their cousins but, I dunno, I feel like there’s something, someone, missing.”
“I dunno Ginny. You don’t think we’re a little old to be having a baby?”
“Your grandparents were 40 when they had their first son, we’ve already had three!”
Harry smiled and she knew she’d won.
AN:
I’m sorry – I just never saw Harry and Ginny stopping after three! :D Even before Deathly Hallows came out I had this plan for them to have a large family (though probably not seven!) and technically it is Epilogue compliant if they leave the younger children with Molly or wait until after the first three have gone to Hogwarts to have the younger ones!!
Hope you like it!

Prompt: Relief

It was true what they said. The moments after a marriage proposal were the longest of your life. Harry had to keep reminding himself to breathe. He thought back over the years they had been together and the many more that they hadn’t. He couldn’t remember her ever looking as shocked as she did now, but he was glad he had managed to surprise her, he’d thought for a few days that she might be onto him. At least she hadn’t said no, yet. There was no way she would say no. Was there?
“Harry, of course I’ll marry you.”
AN:
I guess the relief is a little subtle – but I can imagine Harry’s old insecurities rising for a few seconds before she said yes! :D
