The Basic Lathe Package includes everything you need to get started with ornamental turning right out of the box. The package is designed to cater to those who are on a budget or simply don’t want to commit to the entire range of tooling. It includes everything essential to produce high quality finishes including the overhead drive, slow speed drive, MT2 spindle, steel table, and stand. The basic machine is constructed fundamentally the same as the other packages. This allows for easy addition of attachments and accessories, and expansion into different directions of ornamental turning.

The Engine Turning Package is designed for people that plan to be doing engine turning or guilloché exclusively. It does not include an overhead drive or slow speed drive, as guilloché is most often created by hand cranking and utilizes a fixed tool. It comes with the rosettes, rubbers, and upgraded tower as well as the MT-2 spindle which greatly facilitates work holding.  It arrives out-of-the box ready to cut metal with a traditional engine turning slide rest.  The traditional slide rest is unique in that it's designed to allow radial positioning of the tool, essential for any work that's not flat. This slide is dedicated to engine turning, unlike the Hardinge slide which is usable for other types of turning and the basis for the curvilinear slide. This package also comes with a Stepped Sherline Pie Jaw Chuck and Leveler for accurate fine work holding and indicating.

The Complete Lathe Package is a comprehensive setup to get you started with many facets of ornamental turning. It is for the person who knows they will eventually want to build up the capabilities of their machine, and wants to maximize savings with a larger bundle of attachments and accessories. The package includes a Hardinge slide which is for use with cutting frames and will allow one to create ornamental turnings to one's heart content!  However, if there is an interest in engine turning, we offer an upgraded Hardinge slide which is set-up with a .001" resolution ratchet feed. It's easily reversible to lead screw feed for regular ornamental turning. It allows one to create guilloché while also being able to readily work with wood.
