About:
LifeHack 2021 is a 24-Hour virtual hackathon that wants you to develop innovative software solutions to make a positive change in peoples’ lives in a post-COVID world. Through exciting workshops and events, you will have the chance to learn various technologies from web development to utilizing cloud services. There will be 2 themes for participants to choose from: Education and Social.

 

Timeline:

Workshops 19 July - 22 July

Opening Ceremony 23 July, 9:30am - 12:00pm

Release of Problem Statements 23 July, 12:00pm

Submission of Hack 24 July, 12:00pm

Announcement of Winners 25 July, 1:30pm

Closing Ceremony and Prize Presentation 25 July, 3:00pm - 4:30pm

Requirements

What to submit?

  • Participants are free to submit any software hack - be it a web app, mobile app, bot, etc.

  • Hardware hacks are not accepted as it is difficult for judges to be able to test the functionality of the project.

  • Participants can submit a demo/ pitch video of their hack to showcase their creation. (Optional)

Where to submit?

  • Upload your hack onto GitHub and make it a PUBLIC repository so that judges will be able to view your solution.

  • Then submit your GitHub repo links under the "Try it out" section on the submission page.

How to submit?

  • For the Project Title, enter your team name with your team ID in brackets. (eg. bestHackers (023))

  • For the Elevator Pitch, do mention the name of your project!

Judging Criteria

  • Relevance of ideas (20%)
    How well does the hack align with the chosen theme and problem statement?
  • Innovation (20%)
    How unique and creative is the hack? (Demonstrates these qualities: inspiring, novel, persuasive, fresh, motivating, engaging, etc.)
  • Viability (10%)
    How much prospective social/ commercial value does the hack possess?
  • Usability (15%)
    Usability of the hack. How user-friendly is the interface? How difficult was it to utilize the advertised features?
  • Usage of Data (15%)
    Does the hack utilize data? What methods do they use to collect, store, process, retrieve and analyze data? Is it done in an appropriate manner? Do they use real world data? (eg. data.gov)
  • Technical Implementation (20%)
    How effective is the technical approach and implementation of the hack?
