What is baptism?

Pastor Michael shares what it means to be baptized

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward work that the Holy Spirit is doing inside a person. It is a visible sign that becomes a person’s act of witness to their belief in Jesus as their Savior. We baptize people by full immersion or dunking, as it signifies being buried with Christ and then raised again to new life in Jesus! Romans 6:1-4, 11; Matthew 3:13-17

When you believe.

If you have chosen to put your faith in the belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior of your life, then your immediate next step should be to get baptized. Acts 8:12, 26-40; Acts 16:25-40

Because, Jesus said to.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-19

Jesus left us with this commissioning, to make disciples and baptize them. As a church, we at Life Center strive to honor and follow this command. We believe that if you have chosen to put your faith in the belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior of your life, then your immediate next step should be to get baptized. Acts 8:12, 26-40; Acts 16:25-40

It’s a gift of the Holy Spirit.

We have a new life in Christ.

We believe it is your inward faith in Christ as your Savior, and not the outward act of baptism that saves you. However, as an adult you have now made your faith your own, whereas your infant baptism was an expression of your parents’ faith and we would encourage you to be baptized now as an adult, as a witness to your own personal decision to follow Christ. 

No, we do not baptize into the Foursquare denomination or into our individual church here at Life Center.
