Children learn best when they engage with relatable content. We’ve created Elevate: Vietnam for children across Vietnam. We’re piloting this software with children from ethnic minorities for whom Vietnamese is the language of instruction, though they may never have learned it at home. In contexts like this, Elevate helps children gain the language skills they need to participate in formal schooling.

Myanmar’s schools closed when the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the world. Then, in February 2021, Myanmar’s government was overthrown by a military coup d’etat. These dual challenges, on top of poor access to infrastructure like internet, left children in Myanmar unable to learn. We’ve worked with Save the Children to distribute education packs and share a digital library of books in Burmese. We innovated within local restrictions to implement a custom tablet solution.

In Timor-Leste, Library For All has worked with communities to gather stories and publish some of the very first Tetun children’s books. We worked closely with government and academic stakeholders to carefully represent Tetun in written form, and authentically represent culture in the stories.
