Biological Abstracts to be Replaced by ProQuest Biological Science Collection
Last year, Stan State was one of two CSU campuses to add the Biological Science Collection, given its breadth of coverage and its inclusion of many high impact biological science titles.
For 26/27, the CSU system, after consulting with librarians around the system, voted to drop CSU system-wide coverage of the traditional Biological Abstracts database (from Clarivate) in favor of the ProQuest Biological Science Collection.
Abstracts of leading scientific/peer-reviewed journals in biological and biomedical sciences. Includes immediate full-text /PDFs of articles from over 1000 leading biology journals.
Includes the ProQuest Biological Sciences Database with full-text from over 1000 leading biology journals. Also includes the article abstracts from the broader ProQuest Biological Sciences Index, MEDLINE and TOXLINE.

ERIC index: 45% Reduction in records indexed as of April 24, 2025
The U.S. Department of Education worked with the DoGE to “reduce overall Federal spending” and “reallocate spending to promote efficiency” (EO 14222). As a result, ERIC significantly reduced the number of records indexed. They expected to be reducing the collection by approximately 45% starting April 24, 2025. As of June 2025, there is an updated interface to the 48 EBSCO research databases / collections available from Stanislaus State.

The American Chemical Society (ACS) announced it is ending the coverage of fees for California authors publishing Open Access in ACS journals as of June 30, 2025. This ends 3 years of "Open Access" fee coverage provided by the American Chemical Society (ACS) licensing agreement with CSU / UC / private universities in California. As of July 1, 2025, these fees are not automatically covered by the libraries subscription agreement, but will need to be paid for by the author (e.g. grant funds) if/when "Open Access" is chosen..
Mergent is discontinuing their Mergent Online interface. In its place, the Stanislaus State Library now subscribes to Mergent Market Atlas. Business librarians across the California State University have reviewed this new resource and recommended it as the replacement for Mergent Online.

Unpaywall
is a service which attempts to find full-text articles and resources available for free online (i.e. not behind a paywall). We have incorporated Unpaywall into the Stanislaus State Library OneSearch service. When you search OneSearch, if the library does not have the article in our collection, the system will also query Unpaywall, and may link to free sources for that article.
Unpaywall can also link to working papers, pre-print versions of articles, and early working paper versions of articles. See the Unpaywall tips for more information.
