Welcome! This guide includes information for Pratt Institute Faculty to place library materials on reserve.
Course Reserves are processed on a first come, first serve basis. Reserve requests must be submitted at least two weeks before they are needed by your students. Advanced arrangements are highly encouraged as last-minute requests may not be possible to be processed in time.
Print reserves are held behind the Circulation Desk and are not permitted to leave the library. Students can check out reserve books for four hours at a time for in-library use. Instructors are permitted to place a maximum of 20 books on print reserve per course. Print reserves will close to new requests three weeks before the end of the semester. To place a request for print reserves, fill out the Course Reserve Request Form.
DVDs and 16mm films from the Libraries’ collection may be placed on short-term reserve. To place a DVD on reserve, fill out the Video Reserve Form. For information about reserving the MMB Screening Room, visit our Reserving Rooms guide.
Streaming videos from the Libraries’ streaming service subscriptions may be assigned to students or screened in class. For information on screening guidelines, visit our Film and Video Collections guide.
Electronic articles and ebooks from the Libraries’ e-resource collections can be embedded in the LMS, visit the Faculty Library Guide for instructions. If you would like the library to purchase an ebook for your course, fill out Suggest a Purchase form. The request will be purchased by the library only if an unlimited user ebook version is available and budgets allow.
Faculty can request scans from books and journals owned by the Libraries by clicking on the "Request a Chapter Scan" button in the Books catalog. Library staff will scan the chapters or article and deliver it to your Pratt email. For more information, visit the Scanning Services Guide.
