How to Cite AI Tools-
Ideas and words taken from sources must be cited. If it isn't your original thought or common knowledge, cite where you found it.
If a professor allows and requires you to use AI as a source, clearly mark content and ideas generated by the AI and cite it appropriately. Not acknowledging and citing it is plagiarism.
APA citations should indicate the AI tool as an author, the date of use, how it was used, and the tool's URL. For example, content provided by ChatGPT could be cited this way:
For citing an AI tool generally, as in image citation:
AI Company Name. (year). Tool Name/Model in Italics and Title Case [Description; e.g., Large language model]. URL of the tool
APA (American Psychological Association) Citation Style was first developed 80 years ago by social scientists seeking to establish sound standards of communication. Since that time, it has been adopted by leaders in many fields and has been used by writers around the world.
