Hello! I haven't been around in a while... wait that's not true. I haven't posted in quite some time but I usually check my flist a couple of times a week. It's quiet here! I'm thinking most people have moved on to tumblr, twitter or Facebook. I am also at twitter and facebook but LJ will always hold a special place for me. Just wanted to say a hello and give a quick update. I have been working like a dog nearly full time for the last year so have had hardly any time to be here or do anything fan related. Currently I have had a few days off so here I am. I am not watching very many shows these days, but I do love Sherlock, Sleepy Hollow, Once Upon a Time, and Big Bang Theory.
Have some time off of work with a gazillion things to do and not knowing what to do first, I have finally sat down to update my website. What website? yeah..
http://www.neuralcluster.net. I know, not much goes on there anymore but I still like to have my own spot. Early last year the website broke due to me not keeping the software updated. It was not hacked (like last time it broke), but it simply did not work with the PHP update the server did. So I sat down and found a nice set of tools and updated. Problem was, none of the coding for my videos worked and it was going to take editing every single video page along with putting them into the mosaic as well as putting them into the showcase up top. It was a lot of work and I did some until I got called back to full time work (and selling the house). Basically I got busy. I will probably get busy again later this year but for now I have brought some more videos back into the light. This includes videos made by
raspberry_splat and
humansrsuperior!
When I check all of these videos to be sure they are working, I get nostalgic. Ah, so much for the days when I had nothing to do so I could watch my shows and vid all day. I miss that. I miss my Farscape, John and Aeryn, and I miss my Doctor and Rose. I miss being sucked into a show and being so excited about it. I miss being sucked into a video and finding the perfect clips to match the rhythm and lyric. It really was a fantastic time in my life.
I just resurrected this video yesterday:
A Hundred Pages. It is not nearly one of my best but the song has held me prisoner these last 24 hours. I keep hearing it in my head. It will not go away. My first Doctor Who video! And now I'm yearning for Doctor/Rose again.
And then I put this one up as well:
Weird Science and I'm yearning to follow John and Aeryn on their adventures again. Almost time for a rewatch.
As I bring more of my videos back to the website, I've realized that sometimes I used too much audio from the show. Sorry I went a little crazy with that. I do love the audio, but sometimes it was overkill. Too bad I can't re-edit!
I am getting older and I don't like it. It's looking like later this year I may have the chance to have my own route. If not this year, then next for sure. That means my free time will definitely be at a minimum with my artistic and creative life put behind me. It's a good thing, working, but not so good for having fun. I would love to know how other full-time workers (with kids) juggle working/exhaustion and fandoms.
Oh yeah, kids are well. They are 13 and 11 now, with the youngest almost out of elementary school. In a way I'm glad because "I" have senioritis and am over elementary school. Bring on middle school! They are growing up too fast, too. Puppy (Loki) is doing well. He will be 2 in June. I can't even recall if I ever mentioned him here. We bought a new house 10 months ago that has more of a backyard. Now I have room for a garden. I recently bought a greenhouse and have started some seeds (jalapeno, squash, watermelon, pumpkin, onion, carrot, tomato). Excited! Well, there's my (yearly) update. If anyone actually reads this, maybe I'll post more often. :)
