I promised this fic, to those of you who care, weeks ago. It's been finished for about as long. I wrote it before the show's first season came to a close, and I knew -- from what I had read of what was to come -- it wouldn't contradict upcoming canon, as best I could predict, and should fit rather nicely between episodes 1x09 and 1x10. Looking back, I think I still managed that.
I tried to talk myself out of writing this fic, but it just happened, as such things sometimes do. Then, once it was done, I shelved it and left it alone, thinking if I ignored it long enough, it would simply go away. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of mentioning it to a few of you, and then vaguely mentioning it
again in an actual post (my subconscious must hate me), and I suppose I'm well past the point where I can do that. For all the griping I'm doing here, I'm actually quite happy with it. I'm sure I'll hate it tomorrow, now that it's Out There, but for now, I'm pleased. I can post it, stick my chin out just a bit, and say: "I wrote this." I hope you like it.
(
Note: If you're not fond of my layout's formatting of this fic, for whatever reason, all you have to do is tack on
?style=mine to the URL for this entry, and you can read it in the style of your own LJ.)
