Vote! Vote! Vote!

So yesterday was election’s day in Portugal. All of the good portuguese people went to give their opinion on which party should rule for us. I’m not a good portuguese but I got up and voted. I woke up complaining about life and it lasted until I put the cruce where I wanted to and left to go shopping.

Why did I go vote? Because not voting is as bad as not breastfeeding your newborn. If you’re a mother you’ll get what I am saying. You become the black sheep, you get stained. I should participate in the voting process because my right to do so was won by our ancestors. Even more if I am a woman. It’s like by not voting I am stabbing womenkind in the chest.

And I shouldn’t vote. And I tell you why.

I don’t know anything about politics. I’m sure I’ve already told you this. It’s true. I’ve also spent all the time between one voting year and another, NOT learning anything about the parties and NOT forming my opinion on what I think should be right for my country. I have not won the right to vote.

Why didn’t I vote blank?

Voting blank is giving an opinion. It’s saying that you know all the candidates and you think that none is worth it. I actually think they all look-alike but I feel I don’t hold enough information to stand up and say this.

Why did I vote?

This year I decided to vote. I decided that this will be my first step to change my attitude. So I found a party that in general stood up for things I appreciated.

But, in my opinion uninformed people like me shouldn’t vote. Having the right to vote is having the right to have a voice in what goes on in our country. Do you understand how irresponsible is to let these people to have a voice?

My boyfriend was listening to my ramblings and asked what my solution would be. My solution was to have someone test your knowledge beforehand. They would ask you if you knew the names of the parties in the campaign and what they stood for in general. If you could answer this, you were free to give your opinion. If not, please study and come back.

By the look in my boyfriend’s face I know this wouldn’t be a well received idea, but that’s my opinion. And I would fail the test.

I ♥ Politics

It’s Election time in Portugal and instead of reading every candidate’s programm, the portuguese people decided to analyse the billboards from each party. And all hell broke loose!

Let’s analyse the billboards from Party PS:

outdoor-ps-desemprego770x433-1

(Translation: I’m unemployed since 2012, for the government I don’t exsit. Like me there are more than 220 000. Don’t play with the numbers, respect people”)

It turns out that this woman is not only employed but also part of the City Hall. She agreed to take the photo, but says that the words are not hers. First, who agrees to take photos without knowing where they will be used? Second, you signed or agreed verbally to release the rights of your photo. Third, are billboards suppose to have the photo and the text in agreement?!

Summary of the story: This party removed the billboards, even though they say that she had agreed to release her image, and apologized.

So this party decided to use new billboards:

5 anos

(Translation: I’m unemployed for 5 years, without any social aid or support. Like me there are more than 353 000. Don’t play with the numbers, respect people”)

This is all very well, but 5 years ago, the party that was responsible was the exact the same one from this billboard. This means that this fine lady is unemployed because of them. Is it a Mea Culpa billboard?

This great party decided to do no wrong and put up a new billboard. The result:

cartaz-ps-orginal

(Translation: “It’s time for Trust”).

This is the most ridiculous billboard I’ve seen. Unless you’re advertising a New Age Church!

Who the hell cares about these billboards?! I will be more carefull on chosing the marketing agencies from now on. This one sucks.

What a difference a triangule makes

I don’t spend much time thinking of conspiracy theories. If we try hard we can actually see a conspiracy everywhere, and most the times, things are what they appear to be….and that’s all.

One of the conspiracy theories that I enjoy reading about is the one about the Illuminati. Practically everyone appears to be part of this selective group. So the recent ones that I read about are:

  • Barack Obama – While posing for some photos, he was identified as doing the illuminati sign several times. Also he is responsible for taking decisions that benefited the group.
  • George W. Bush – Again there were photos of him doing the sign. He was probably just scratching himself, but that’s just me….
  • Beyoncé Knowles – She’s done the sign several times in her videos, and supposedly she’s done the hand sign in the Super Bowl. I think she was just asking for our help to rescue her from Jay- Z.
  • Angelina Jolie- Apparently her mastectomy was some great plot to benefit the Illuminati. This decision to remove her breasts, even though she had no cancer, is seen as PR corporate campaign to influence opinion on the BRCA1 patent viability. Well geez, I just though that it was a PR campaign for herself, because she was feeling left out in Hollywood.
  • Paris Hilton – There is a Illuminati tradition on her family. It is said that the children on te Hilton family were subducted to mind controlling tests. That actually explains a lot…

These are only a few examples. From what I could see EVERYONE is part of the Illuminati. Be careful not to do the following hand signs. If you do, you’re Illuminati but you don’t know it yet.

It’s actually better that you keep your hands in your pocket.

How to kill a mockingZombie….

I’ve been doing some research , and from what I gather, Zombies are undead creatures that would like to make a meal out of us. Undead would be someone who is technically dead but behaves as if alive (Pfeee I prefer Vampires, they are sexier).

There is actually a lot of literature around this topic, which I think it’s a bit concerning….(Try Zombiepedia: http://zombie.wikia.com/wiki/Zombie_Wiki)

In my quest to learn more from Zombies, I’ve found this website that gives you 5 scientific reasons for a Zombie Apocalypse could happen (yes! Scientific!).

http://www.cracked.com/article_15643_5-scientific-reasons-zombie-apocalypse-could-actually-happen.html

Before we start to analyze the Scientific Reasons, I got stuck on the first paragraph:

“We found out recently that if you try to leave a little kid in a graveyard late at night, he’ll freak out.”

How exactly did you found this out? I’m a little bit scared that they actually took a kid at night to a graveyard. Where were the parents? Are they Zombies? Did the Zombies eat his parents?!It goes on:

“Even if you offer to leave him a gun to protect himself”

Did you actually leave a kid in a graveyard alone at night with a GUN?! How old was the kid?! WTH?

Moving on……. Let’s get back to the APOCALYPSE, the scientific reasons disclosed in this website and several others are:

Brain Parasites – They can cause your personality to change and you become a bit crazy….but are you undead? No! So you’re not a zombie.

Neurotoxins –It’s a poison that affects the nerves. In some cases, doctors can be fooled to think that the patient is dead. Some toxins leave the person with no memory. Again…are you dead?! No!

The Real Rage Virus – there is a risk that I am repeating myself….but are you dead?! NO!

Neurogenesis – The idea is that you have re-grow brain cells, but something in the process gets screwed. So you are alive?! The answer is YES.

Nanobots – microscopic robots that are inserted in our brains, and can operate after the death of the host.… Ok I’ll give you this one.

Even though these are very good threats ( cof…cof…) why are we so afraid of Zombies? Just kill them! It’s not like they have superpowers!

Please stop leaving your kids at graveyards or I’ll be calling Child Protective Services. That’s all.

No words to describe…

I have a problem, well, I have a lot a problems, but this one affects while reading the news. I’m addicted to reading the comments that are made on the online news. It’s when people feel protected by anonymity that they are able to share all of their darkest thoughts. Those thoughts are mostly disgusting.

I confess that I lost most of my sensibility or empathy to others due to the amount of tragedies that happen in the world daily, and that nowadays we are able to see from some sort of screen.

But even assuming that I’m selfish, because being that insensitive, is basically being selfish and self-centered, I’m not able to not feel hopeless for the refugees.

Just imagine how one must feel to have the need to travel thousands of kilometers, in any form possible and most of the times with kids, how desperate must they be?

I don’t understand the ones that say, that:

1 – They’re terrorists

2 – They’re invading us

3- They want to change our rules

4 -They should had stayed in their country and fight for it

5 – How can we help them when we have so many people needing help in here.

Ok, let’s go back to basics:

There’s probably a small percentage of jihadists that will try to infiltrate this way, however, those, would had come either way, and it’s not because of them that we shouldn’t help the others.

How many thousands are the refugees? How many Millions live in Europe? Maths, have you ever heard of it?

Hein? 2 things, the maths above, how will they change our rules? and aren’t we trying to change their rules all the time?

Again? hein? What would you do? Honestly, not the macho answer, just an honest answer.

One thing does not invalidate the other.

Image result for refugees

Most of all, I can be completely wrong, but aren’t we all human? Why is it so difficult to help others? Just because they’re from a different country?

I’m losing faith in humanity.

And then I saw a caravan that is leaving from Portugal and another one from Spain with food and clothes, and that was collected trough Facebook, or that after the Iceland government indicated that they would only receive refugees, there were 10000 volunteers to receive them.

Why there so may bad people? Either the ones that criticize any help to refugees or the unspeakable’s that created all this kind of situations.

Heart of Darkness

As a mother I could barely look at the photo of Aylan Kurdi. I understand why it was published and it actually worked for some time since we all started speaking about the refugees issue a lot more serious.

And as I had imagined that photo had an ephemeral effect, since we have already forgotten that the refuges are families, kids and people who actually need our help. They are running to save their lives, not because of a whim.

I am actually against all pictures like this that are shown on TV, published on newspaper and shared all over the world by social media, because they violate the privacy of the family. No one should ever be forced to see these pictures of their relatives, over and over again.

I hate that we shared this picture as if it were nothing until it got to a point where it is banal.

I hate that there was even an hashtag created (“#kiyiyavuraninsanlik“) with the purpose of sharing the photo.

We have so much information, so many details, so many photos, that it comes a point that we will not empathize with what’s happening. It becomes fiction for us.

Will not sharing the photos or stories help us to recover the humanity in us? No, but I still hate it.

And no I am not Charlie, I was never Charlie, so I’m not even going to speak about that one. I am for Freedom of speech, when that does not stop other people’s freedom. I understand their right to publish whatever they want and I have a right to be offended.

Kingdom of Misinformation

So this happenend some months ago…

I was watching the news when I saw that a big accident had happened on my hometown. It actually needed to be something big to appear on the news, as my hometown is rather small and uneventful.

So, a car had crashed into a house. No one was hurt, but the house and the garden were destroyed. They interviewed an old lady that was crying hysterically that she had lost everything and she had no one to help her. All her hard work was lost and she didn’t have her health anymore to start over. I was very touched by the woman, that wouldn’t stop crying, so I phoned my mother to see if she had heard anything about this and if she knew the woman.

It turns out that my mother was actually on that spot when the accident had happened. She said that the firefighters had to help the owner of the house, because she was in shock and didn’t speak a word. I found this strange because I had seen the interview and, even though she was hysteric, she was speaking, rather loudly actually. My mother then informed me that the person that the news channel had interviewed was not the owner of the house, and she didn’t even live nearby. She was walking on the area, as my mother was, and the interviewer asked if she wanted to give her thoughts about what happened. And so she did…..

Moral of the story: Never trust the news. They show you what gives them more audience or what is necessary to influence you to think a certain way. It’s a strong power that they have. They can show pictures, tell a story and voilà, the minds of who are watching are set to think that way, because, hey, If we’ve seen it on TV it must be true, right?

Watch several channels, search for news online, learn as much as you can about what you are reading and then form you own opinion.
