Business with a purpose
At Lemma, we believe that all people have a right to equal dignity under the law. While much of our work is for traditional law firms and other businesses with AI or document automation needs, we have special rates for nonprofits and take pride in our work protecting vulnerable people through tools that address social need. Our tools for clients around the world have helped tenants with housing stability, protected domestic violence survivors, helped with gender-affirming name changes, kept families together, and helped immigrants find dignity in legal work and obtain asylum from dangerous country conditions.

Quinten Steenhuis
Founder
Before attending Cornell Law School and working as a litigator in legal aid for 12 years, Quinten was trained in computer science at Carnegie Mellon University. Quinten is a nationally known expert in and contributor to the open source platform Docassemble. Quinten is a 2023 Fastcase 50 recipient, 2021 ABA Legal Rebel, lead programmer for Court Forms Online and the author of the eviction defense tool, MADE. His work on MADE was recognized by the White House and DOJ in a joint press release in 2022. He is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Rami Lorca
Full Stack Developer & UX
Prior to becoming a developer, Rami worked as a legal aid attorney in Boston, where he first became exposed to legal automation technologies like Docassemble. His experience with various programming languages, as well as UX design, has allowed him to work across all stages of the software development lifecycle. Rami is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
Jim Graszer Jr.
Senior Developer
Jim has been a software engineer in the Chicago, Illinois metro area for the past 20 years. He brings extensive experience in software development, back-end design, and building backend API integrations, particularly with Python. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Western Illinois University and has a proven track record in leading complex projects and delivering high-quality software solutions.
Kelly McGuire
Developer & Project Manager
Before working with Lemma Legal, Kelly worked at various start-ups providing compliance services for cannabis companies around the United States. This exposure to legal tech inspired her to learn the fundamentals of software development utilizing Python, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Her experiences give her a unique perspective on the software development process and a passion for building with product users in mind. Kelly is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
Toby Fey
Contract developer
Toby worked as a legal aid housing lawyer for 15 years, including 10 years helping thousand of tenants in 32 counties in Ohio forced to go into court or address their legal problem without a lawyer. Toby used Docassemble to meet this need, and in 2020, he started providing Docassemble authoring services to other legal aid organizations, law firms, and academics.
Jack Adamson
Developer
Jack has been a computer nerd since he was a child, even when he joined the Marine Corps as a Landing Support Specialist. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, he began working for Dodson & Waters, a law firm in Jefferson City, Missouri and quickly saw the need for document automation. Jack discovered docassemble and got to work. With a long history of solving problems, he wrote and released an open-source VSCode extension to make it easier to write docassemble interviews. He is an active member in the docassemble community and a contributor to the docassemble project.
Caroline Schumann
Contract developer & animator
Caroline is a licensed attorney, developer, and video animator. During her time studying at University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, she became an expert in building websites, animation, and document automation technology. She helps build document automation solutions and legal explainer videos to accompany our pro-se user facing solutions.
