Notifications & Alerts Overview
There are three types of notifications in ProjectManager so you never miss an update: in-app, email and automated.
Automated alerts via workflow automation are only available on Business and above, learn more.
Notifications and alerts are messages the software generates to inform users about an event, status change or required action. ProjectManager has three types; in-app notifications, email alerts and automated alerts.
- In-app notifications and email alerts trigger based on actions like comments, assignees, due date changes, progress, priority changes, etc
- Automated alerts are sent for more complex changes like cost increases or custom tags established through the automation feature
Notifications and alerts are customizable and they're compiled across all software activity.
In-App Notifications
In-app notifications appear on the bell icon on the left-hand menu. You can clear all notifications by clicking on the bottom right-hand portion of the pop-up.

To adjust these settings, click on the gear icon.

You can adjust the settings for both tasks assigned to you and created by you. Mute the notifications as needed. Read more about how to set up notifications.

Email Alerts
Navigate to the "alerts" section of your menu where you can adjust your email alerts. Make customizations to determine the type of email alerts you receive so your inbox isn't flooded unnecessarily. You can also set alerts for task and timesheet reminders.

On the admin tab of this pop-up, you can adjust the default settings for admin or other project roles. The permissions depend on your role. Read more on how to configure email alerts.

Automated Alerts
Automated alerts are the result of automation. For example, some tasks may need to be reviewed when certain KPIs slip, costs increase, duration increases, etc.
In this case, automation can be established to automatically assign the task to a manager to review when certain priority levels are hit. The below example also adds a tag for review.
To get an alert for these types of tasks, double-check your email alert settings.

These alerts are a great way to ensure progress throughout each project stage as tasks cannot progress without the right people looking them over. As soon as automation rules are published, the rules will take effect. The involved team roles will be alerted through the app as needed.
