The Glossi 2-in-1 Hot Tool and Air Glosser, designed by LAYER with Shark Beauty, combines ceramic smoothing plates and directed airflow to smooth and style in one intuitive step. Part of a cross-category design language project by LAYER for Shark Beauty, Glossi pairs advanced performance with sculpted proportions, satin metallic finishes and expressive colourways. The result is a styling tool that feels technically advanced yet effortlessly elegant.

LAYER has designed ONE, a next-generation tripod system for Manfrotto that reimagines camera support for hybrid photography and videography. Designed as a single adaptive platform, ONE replaces multiple tools with an intuitive system that prioritises speed, precision, and fluid transitions between formats. A breakthrough one-motion deployment enables rapid setup across varied shooting environments. Manfrotto has invested USD $50 million in the project.

LAYER has developed the branding and packaging for Manfrotto’s ONE tripod system as part of a holistic design programme. The visual identity draws on cinematic aspect ratios and engineered toolpaths, while the packaging extends the product narrative through blueprint-inspired graphics and a considered unboxing experience. Crafted using recycled materials, it reflects Manfrotto’s performance-led DNA.

LAYER has launched the Triada Lift collection with Spanish furniture brand Andreu World – a new series of height-adjustable occasional tables designed for dynamic environments. Seamlessly integrating performance and elegance, the table features a sculptural tripod leg structure, a cantilevered top for easy access, and a concealed height control, supporting agile working across lounges, touch-down zones, and collaborative spaces.

LAYER has launched Velo, a next-generation task chair designed for Spanish furniture brand Andreu World. Defined by a sculptural silhouette, the chair delivers ergonomic performance without visual complexity and is engineered for dynamic support. It features an intuitive weight-activated mechanism and a flexible backrest that respond in real time to the user’s posture. This advanced ergonomic performance and refined materiality make it equally suited to residential and commercial environments.

LAYER has unveiled CryoGlow, a sculptural LED skincare mask created in collaboration with Shark Beauty. The innovative device combines light therapy and targeted cryotherapy in a single product, reimagining the at-home skincare ritual. Soft contours, intuitive detailing, and intelligent features reflect LAYER’s holistic approach to performance-led beauty. CryoGlow is part of an ongoing project with Shark Beauty to redefine the brand’s design language.

Velo, the high-performance task chair by LAYER for Andreu World, has been shortlisted for the 2025 Interior Design Best of Year Awards. Balancing sculptural form with ergonomic precision, Velo features an organic silhouette, intuitive controls, and a weight-activated mechanism – redefining comfort and adaptability in the workplace. This prestigious award celebrates innovation across global product and interior design – a big thank you to the judges!

LAYER has extended its award-winning modular mattress system for sleep start-up Mazzu with a new outdoor version. The camping system vacuum-packs into a rugged wheeled trolley and assembles with 72 conic spring modules, snap-fit connectors, and paracord ties. Finished in foliage-inspired tones with hi-vis details, it’s a high-performance, foam-free sleep solution designed for adventure.

We’re excited to share a next-generation VR headset designed and engineered by LAYER for Unison. We started prototyping work in 2022, prioritising comfort and wearability, with a slim facial interface, balanced weight distribution, and a mirrored front that conceals integrated sensors. Every element has been refined to feel intuitive, immersive, and wearable – transforming a high-tech product into a desirable lifestyle accessory.

LAYER has created a strategic visual identity, packaging, and digital assets for Zima, a wellness-tech start-up redefining oral appliance care. The system includes a bespoke emblem based on ultrasonic cavitation, a custom wordmark, and a neutral palette punctuated by Zima Blue. From product to platform, the identity champions trust and brings a professional experience to the home.

LAYER has partnered with Shark Beauty to design FlexFusion – a 5-in-1 modular styling system that simplifies the haircare routine with professional-level performance. Featuring a ceramic straightener, hot brush, auto-wrap curlers, concentrator, and diffuser, each attachment reflects a refined design language of sculpted surfaces, intuitive interaction, and ergonomic comfort – delivering advanced functionality through a single, sculptural product for everyday use.

LAYER has created a dual-logo brand identity for luxury fashion label Sanne, blending Savile Row precision with space-age futurism. The system includes a sculptural wordmark and a craft-led seal designed for layered expression across physical and digital touchpoints. Vibrant colour, motion graphics and adaptable typography bring the brand to life across packaging, campaigns, and retail environments.

The Velo chair by LAYER for Andreu World has won Gold at NeoCon 2025. Velo is the first task chair to be launched by Andreu World and it brings intuitive ergonomics to the evolving workplace. The streamlined design supports comfort and movement, striking a perfect balance between form and function. Velo launched in Chicago at NeoCon in June, and the Gold award recognises that it sets a new benchmark for chairs that combine aesthetic distinction with ergonomic excellence.

During Milan Design Week 2025, LAYER will unveil 101010 at the iconic 10 Corso Como. The exhibition features a retrospective of the studio’s work alongside six visionary prototypes developed with the studio’s past creative partners – Andreu World, Bitossi Ceramiche, Kvadrat, MDF Italia, Muuto, Orrefors, and RÆBURN – each exploring how craft and design can address future global challenges. Aura 2 – an ultra short-throw projector designed by LAYER for Xgimi – has won an iF Design Award 2025. Featuring a minimalist aesthetic with a fabric-covered exterior and a motorised lens cover that unfolds gracefully, Aura 2 reimagines technology for the home. LAYER founder Benjamin Hubert has been announced as a judge for the Dezeen Awards 2025, joining a prestigious panel of industry leaders. Other judges include interior designer Ilse Crawford, South Korean designer Teo Yang, and Nigerian architect Olajumoke Adenowo. The Dezeen Awards celebrate the most innovative and impactful design projects of the year across architecture, interiors, and product design.

LAYER is excited to announce 101010, an exhibition to celebrate the studio’s 10-year anniversary at 10 Corso Como during Milan Design Week 2025. Showcasing a retrospective of the studio’s work alongside a new collection of prototypes developed with leading design and fashion brands, 101010 both reflects on the past decade of design at LAYER and explores the next decade of design, tackling urgent challenges through innovation, sustainability, and craft.

Concept View – designed and engineered by LAYER for Deutsche Telekom – has been awarded Gold at the International Design Awards 2024, which celebrates excellence in groundbreaking design. This first-of-its-kind holographic home hub reimagines Deutsche Telekom’s services, featuring a 3D holographic, AI-equipped virtual assistant that guides users through the digital world and facilitates holographic calls.

Concept View, designed and engineered by LAYER for Deutsche Telekom, has received a Good Design Award, recognising excellence in design innovation. “Emma, beam me up’ may not work yet, but the holographic calls with View pick up on the idea of digital travel,” said the Good Design Award judges. “She gives artificial intelligence a face and serves people as a personal assistant for all aspects of daily life.”

Concept View – designed and engineered by LAYER for Deutsche Telekom – has been honoured at the European Product Design Awards 2024 for its visionary approach to home connectivity. Featuring Emma, a 3D AI-powered assistant, it transforms the traditional router into an interactive hub for holographic calls and digital interactions – seamlessly blending advanced technology with an intuitive, human-centered experience.

PiA – Personal Intelligent Assistant – is a new modular ecosystem of smart devices designed by LAYER to explore the future of AI. Comprising a smartphone, wearable camera module, and biometric earbud, PiA seamlessly connects to your environment, offering real-time insights and tailored recommendations. Crafted from tactile materials with jewelry-like finishes, PiA challenges the conventional aesthetics of smart devices, creating objects that feel more like personal accessories than tech gadgets.

Croft has recently been awarded the Most Disruptive Potential H2 Monaco Prize for Innovation in Renewable Hydrogen and Transportation by the Monaco Hydrogen Alliance. LAYER led the industrial design, engineering and brand strategy of the Croft system, which comprises Nanocartridges that can be used to power retrofitted vehicles using hydrogen produced on-site, a Nanoplant to recharge the Nanocartridges, and a hose module for on-board charging.

HoloBike, designed and engineered by LAYER for Saga Holographic, has recently been recognised as one of the 50 greatest innovations of 2024 in the Popular Science 37th annual Best of What’s New awards. The revolutionary exercise bike features a lenticular-inspired, high-resolution screen that utilises optic flow. Eye-tracking cameras adjust the scene based on where you’re looking for an immersive experience that brings vivid outdoor landscapes to the gym or home.

Benjamin Hubert has been announced as a judge for the 2025 Fast Company Innovation by Design Awards. The competition honours the designers and businesses solving the most crucial problems of today and anticipating the issues of tomorrow, with entrants ranging from blue-chip companies to emerging startups, and hungry young talents. As one of the industry’s most prestigious design awards, it offers 30 entry categories, covering every aspect of design.

Benjamin Hubert has been announced as a judge for the Mix Awards 2025. Mix Awards is the leading awards programme for commercial interior design, recognising the most exceptional projects, products and people across the UK and Europe. Reflecting the full spectrum of commercial interior design and architecture, this year’s judges each have a unique perspective on design across multiple disciplines.

XGIMI has recently released Aura 2 – a next-generation short-throw projector designed by LAYER. The new projector features a motorised cover that makes transforming your living room into a cinema-like experience even more seamless. The highly engineered motorised cover effortlessly folds up when the projector is in use and folds down to protect the lens when not in use to transform the tech product into a sculptural objet d’art for the home.

The award-winning Beosound Balance speaker by LAYER for Bang & Olufsen has been reimagined as part of the iconic Danish brand’s Atelier Editions. On 18th September, LAYER founder Benjamin Hubert will be giving a talk at the new Andreu World showroom on Goswell Road in Clerkenwell for the London Design Festival. The talk begins at 6pm and will explore the ongoing relationship between LAYER and Spanish furniture brand Andreu World, with a focus on the recently launched Calma lounge chair.

LAYER founder Benjamin Hubert has been invited to give a keynote talk and take part in several exciting events as a guest of honour at La Feria de Diseño in Medellin, Colombia. The 11th edition of the event takes place from the 19th-21st September, and Benjamin will be speaking on Friday 20th at 5pm. There’s also a lunch planned in partnership with chef Juan Manuel Barrientos at El Cielo restaurant.

Benjamin Hubert has been invited to participate in the Design Burger Design Dialogues exhibition taking place at Hoxton Arches from 2-4 August. 11 leading designers have sketched answers to questions, such as “The biggest risk you’ve ever taken?” and “What’s your vision for the future?”. These sketches will be exhibited alongside work from the designers, and visitors will have the opportunity to contribute their own sketched responses to a mural.

View – a collaboration between LAYER and Deutsche Telekom – has recently been honoured in the prestigious Fast Company Innovation by Design Awards. View is a first-of-its-kind, holographic home hub that re-imagines Deutsche Telekom’s services and hardware in a concept for a more immersive future. It is part of the award-winning Concept T that launched at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last year.

The Press Chair for MDF Italia launched during Milan Design Week. Press takes its name from the production process used to create its complex forms from 3D-Veneer timber. The dynamic lines are balanced by a classic form for a timeless appeal – an approach that not only showcases the natural beauty of the timber but creates comfort by emulating pillowed seat forms.

Almo is a reclining lounge chair for Spanish brand Andreu World with a distinctive yet timeless expression that is defined by the tension between the pillowed softness inside the lounge and the minimalist wraparound exterior shell. The name of the chair – Almo – comes from the Spanish word almohadón, which translates as “cushion” and  references the soft pillowed design language of the cocooning lounge chair.

HoloBike is a revolutionary exercise bike for Saga that breaks the monotony of work-outs through holographic immersion. The stereoscopic light-field display provides a 3D portal to virtual scenes with crystal-clear 4K resolution. This sophisticated technology allows users to see into and around a virtual environment without the need for specialised eyewear or a VR headset. The revolutionary bike launches on Kickstarter on 7 May 2024.

Concept View – a collaboration between LAYER and Deutsche Telekom – has won Gold in the Muse Design Awards. Concept View is a first-of-its-kind, holographic home hub that re-imagines Deutsche Telekom’s services and hardware in a concept vision for a more immersive future. The Muse Design Awards were established to celebrate and honour the world’s best in design and innovation.

LAYER is launching three exciting new products at Milan Design Week. The Almo Lounge Chair for Andreu World will be launched at the Andreu World Showroom with an event on Wednesday 17 April; the Strand Table Lamp for Muuto will be showcased at the Muuto Milan Apartment in the Brera Design District; and the Press chairs for MDF Italia will be exhibited at Rho Fiera.

The Ensemble collection by LAYER for iconic Swedish brand Orrefors has been awarded a prestigious Red Dot Design Award! The collection of decorative glassware comprises six individual pieces – three plinths and three bowls – that are interchangeable to allow users to create their own configurations. A huge thank you to Orrefors, the LAYER team and the Red Dot judges.

We’re proud to announce that the Urban coffee machine for Korean brand Kanu has been awarded a prestigious Red Dot Design Award! The generously rounded form of the appliance features an elegant pleated texture that elevates the affordable soft-touch polymer material and creates a distinctive identity. Concept T is a groundbreaking collaboration between LAYER and Deutsche Telekom Design & Customer Experience that showcases a possible future that reimagines the way we connect and communicate. The collection of three near-future concepts – a sophisticated holographic hub, a modular router, and a mobile smart assistant – launched in February at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in an immersive showcase also designed by LAYER.

Mira – an ultra-short throw projector designed by LAYER for XGIMI –  has been awarded an iF Design Award. “Mira is an artistic and simple ultra-short throw projector aimed to bring technology naturally and harmoniously to the home,” say the judges. “Following the XGIMI design language, Mira integrates all the complex components in a compact body defined by structural lines and covered with an elegant fabric to match the low-saturation moonlight white.”

We’re excited to announce that the Earth Rated dog toys designed by LAYER were recently awarded in the Wallpaper* Design Awards. “The collection of playful new products will delight dogs and owners alike thanks to their rich, textured surfaces and geometric codes,” say the judges. “Crafted from compostable and recycled plastics and natural rubber, toys are hardy and, crucially, dishwasher safe.”

Vale – a sustainable seating collection by LAYER for KFI Studios – has recently been awarded a prestigious Good Design Award by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. The sustainable collection of chairs and stools is defined by a pressed felt shell that is created using recycled PET bottles, an innovative, material-driven approach that celebrates the studio’s sustainable mindset to design.

The MIRA projector designed by LAYER for XGIMI has been awarded a Good Design Award G-Mark. The high-tech home cinema system epitomises the studio’s approach of re-defining technology as a desirable home object. “The projector can blend into the interior design without a sense of strangeness and create a world of its own, even when it is not in use,” say the jury.

The revolutionary MAZZU Mattress designed by LAYER for start-up sleep brand MAZZU has launched at IMM Cologne, which runs until 18 January. The foamless, modular mattress challenges the conventions of the mattress industry, with a focus on sustainable materials. Modular pocket springs with various tensions are combined with a base unit and pillow topper to create a mattress that can be configured to suit a user’s sleeping position. This unique modular construction significantly prolongs the product lifespan and reduces waste.

The Vale collection of seating by LAYER for KFi Studios has recently been awarded a Good Design Award by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. Vale is constructed from a single PET felt shell made from recycled plastic waste. “The pressed felt shell, with its elegantly contoured form, is used to achieve a harmonious vision,” said the judges. “The fluidity of the curved silhouette evokes a softness which is enhanced by the soft texture of the PET felt.”

LAYER has won the Crypto, Blockchain, and Web3 category of the prestigious Fast Company Innovation by Design Awards for Ledger Stax, a wallet for storing cryptocurrency. “Now, cryptocurrency has a sleek physical accessory that lives up to its proponents’ revolutionary aspirations,” said the judges. “Knowing that crypto can confuse and dismay those who are unfamiliar, the device’s design is intentionally and painstakingly intuitive.”

LAYER has designed a poop bag dispenser, poop bags, and five interactive dog toys for leading dog brand Earth Rated. The toys offer various interactions – Fly, Tug, Fetch, Treat, and Chew – and subtly reimagine classic typologies. The new products celebrate the brand’s sustainable values and are part of an extensive rebranding project led by LAYER.

LAYER has designed MIRA for leading projector brand XGIMI, a next-generation short-throw projector that revolutionises home entertainment. The projector – which incorporates audio and smart TV – is defined by its discreet fabric-wrapped form that challenges the visual dominance of the conventional “black box” television in our living spaces.
