ONE is Manfrotto’s next-generation tripod system, designed by leading industrial design consultancy LAYER as a flagship platform for hybrid creators working across photography and videography. Conceived as a single, adaptable tool, ONE replaces multiple pieces of equipment with an intuitive system that prioritises speed, precision, and fluid transitions between formats.
At its core is a breakthrough one-motion deployment mechanism that allows the legs to extend and automatically adapt to uneven ground with a simple flip of a clip. Five integrated functions – CORE, FAST, LVL, Q90 and QR – centralise adjustments, levelling, orientation changes and head swaps, enabling creators to move seamlessly between stills and motion without interrupting the creative flow.
LAYER developed a complete design system for ONE spanning product, packaging, naming and graphic identity. The ONE wordmark references cinematic aspect ratios and engineered toolpaths, expressing Manfrotto’s technical precision through monolithic, ordered letterforms applied directly to the tripod legs.
This language extends to the packaging, where blueprint-inspired line drawings, celebratory feature windows and an ‘Imagine More’ seal create a considered unboxing experience. Crafted from recycled paper and vegetable inks, the packaging reflects the same attention to performance, longevity and detail that defines the product itself.
LAYER was responsible for the holistic design of ONE, encompassing industrial design, mechanical architecture, branding, packaging and visual identity. The studio led the creation of Manfrotto’s flagship model for the next decade, as part of a programme involving over $50 million in global production tooling and investment.
