LAYER was commissioned to design a 200-square-metre auditorium space for 100% Design. Amass comprises three simple modules that, when assembled en masse, generate a structure that defines space without creating a visual barrier. The branched form was inspired by the controlled randomness found in nature, and the three modules can be connected in several different orientations to build variation into the structure. Amass can be re-used for future events for a greater return on design investment.
LAYER developed a modular, reusable architectural system to reduce the waste associated with temporary exhibition structures. We sourced Fresponsible suppliers and manufacturers, and created a stop-motion video of the installation that garnered global press attention.
