The problem with being on concom is that it takes just those extra couple of days to recover enough to actually POST after a con. So here, belatedly, is my contribution to this year's Vividcon Premiere show is Verb: That's What's Happening from Schoolhouse Rock for Star Trek (2009).
Summary: Kirk is such a verb.

My contribution to this year's
spn_j2_bigbang </user> for 
lucdarling</user>'s J2 pirate AU Leagues from Shore. There were lots of fun possibilities this year, but the lure of pirates proved just too strong, despite the fact that I was completely lacking in proper reference images. And I'm glad they did. The story is lots of fun and it was an entertaining challenge to attempt period costume and appropriate architecture and ship's rigging in the art. If nothing else one thing has become totally clear to me: Jared, Jensen and Jeff all really need to do period pieces. With lots of publicity photos. Lots and lots.

While this particular fic does not contain any actual instances of under-aged sex, it is referred to. There are consent issues--two of the characters are slaves, but they consent to the sex as much as possible in this universe and the one bdsm scene is negotiated beforehand.
Summary: When Dylan Neal was six, his parents purchased a five year old kid named Joe to act as Dylan's companion and body slave. For the next twelve years Joe was Dylan's best friend, brother, valet and, eventually, lover. And then when Dylan went away to college, his father sold Joe and Dylan vowed to do what he could to bring an end to slavery.

Public Masks and Private Battles by cala_jane is the second story I provided art for in this year's spn_j2_bigbang. Friends familiar with my kinks preferences in fiction will be unsurprised by the fact that I was lured in by the following:
One of the lovely things about doing challenges is that they are good at stretching one as an artist. Ifepeeblade's Meadows of Heaven inspired me to start learning Corel Painter, Public Masks (and a serious lack of good comedy/tradgey mask free clipart) prompted me to take another stab at Adobe Illustrator for the title card and related bits. The paper, I admit, was done in my old standby of Photoshop.
cala_jane is the second story I provided art for in this year's spn_j2_bigbang. Friends familiar with my Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Rating: PG13
Summary: When the slavery system was introduced as a way to relief the overcrowded prisons, Jensen didn't hesitate to join the Rebellion that was already fighting against the Empire. Years later he was found out, he was sentenced to spend his life as a slave. From that moment, his life was a constant war, with battles he knew he had to win. After he's bought by Gerald Padalecki, to protect his youngest son, all those battles are limited to three most important ones. First: Keep Jared Padalecki alive. Second: Earn freedom by keeping Jared Padalecki alive. And third: Keep his feelings in check while keeping Jared Padalecki alive. Jensen soon realizes he might be able to win only one of those battles.
Warnings: slave themes, power imbalance, violence
Important notes: Author is easily amused. Chad is decent. There are cliches. And despite adult themes, the fic is terribly PG.

I've found myself missing this kind of narrative vid the last couple of years at Vividcon - they make me, as a viewer, use my brain in ways that I enjoy and…
I kind of miss the longer clips. I'm as big a fan of fast quick clips as anyone, but there's something to be said for actually sinking back into a storyline.
