Le Laïc: Type Foundry

Independent Type Design Studio
or in fact a personal type design practise
of Maciej Piotr Połczyński.
Based in Warsaw, Poland and providing typeface since 2018.

Somewhere in the process the motto used to be refering
to the location of Warsaw which is “Between East and West”.
Later on it became “Overthinking Words and Letterforms”
but things changed. An obsession like this is never a good thing.

In Polish laik is an amateur.

It all started during a week-long workshops on basics
of type design conducted by Martin Majoor, back in 2014.
Later on, the spark of type design kept rumbling on.
Once some of the designs were “ready” to be published,
I started the never-ending adventure of looking for the right name.
It was constantly becoming somewhat around “naive”.
