I'm alive, and probably should get back to blogging here. How are you all?
The year was good. Not amazing, but good. Everyday life aside (though it wasn't bad either), I found several new interesting things.
In games, I discovered the Saints Row series, namely SR3 and SR4 (which I played in a reverse order, but that made it even funnier). Despite all the profanity, which I usually hate, it was one of those games where I feel "at home". Well, not literally, I don't want to be a gang member, but it is hilarious, and violet is the colour of the Saints. So, count me in! I posted some screenshots on my tumblr, so if you wanna see them, here you go: SR3 and SR4.
Also, I'm guilty of playing Heroes of Dragon Age, just like all the other DA fans waiting for the DAI. Was in the "first wave" of players, before the game went worldwide, now at level 33 and finally started getting rares and legendaries. Just got Merrill yesterday, my second legendary after Morrigan. I tend to play with all mages team, so it was a good addition.
Still struggling to find a new anime to watch. Well, Psycho Pass was quite good, but after that... I tried a few series, with Kill la Kill being closest to be called "good", but otherwise, nothing caught my attention. Am I missing something?
The only mangas I'm (still) following are AMG and Claymore. Though in both cases it seems like the authors don't know what to do next, so they draw a filler after a filler. With AMG, I don't even wait for it to be translated, just look at the pictures, see that nothing happens, and close it. If everyone is in Makai already, where the hell is Mara???
The "normal" TV series I watched this year were Doctor Who, Sleepy Hollow, Being Human, re-watched some Babylon 5 and Warehouse 13. Surely there was something else. :)
Last year Christmas I discovered a book by Ben Aaronowitch called Rivers of London and practically fell in love with his writing style. This year I've read all the sequels to it, and they are as good as the first one. A great author I would recommend to everyone who loves urban fantasy. Read several other authors writing about similar things, but none was as good as Ben.
So, this is a very short version of what I've been up to (not just) recently. See you sooner or later!

It started well, with the X-Men assembled for the first time after Jean's death to investigate the disappearance of a young mutant girl. A Japanese girl, but that's fine, it's an anime, so there should be at least something related to Japan in it. However, soon we realize that Hisako aka Armor (an ordinary Japanese schoolgirl aside from her mutant powers) is actually the main heroine of the story. I know she does exist in the comics, but she is less known that Scott, Ororo, Logan or Hank, who serve as a backdrop for her here. Also, they add Emma Frost as her mentor. Then they fight the Unspeakable Evil (TM) which is, of course, hidden inside a weak Japanese boy.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought that X-Men was a sci-fi more than anything else. Mutants, while having their special powers still remained human beings. In this anime all the enemies, aside from Mastermind, look like something from your average anime thriller, you know, those insect-like tentacled demons that spit acid. And clearly, only the Power of Love (TM) can save the world. The story turned out quite mediocre, and I have no idea why they wanted to use X-Men when it could be any original group of heroes lead by a school girl.
Well, at least it was very well made, good artwork and animation, good voice acting, at least in the English version. However, with such a team of actors it couldn't be otherwise. Steve Blum, Ali Hillis and Jennifer Hale made me watch it to the final episode.

Currently my main hobby (aka time killer and brain eater) is The Secret World. I'm usually not into MMORPG, like, at all, but Aster wanted to play it together, who am I to say no?
The game is surprisingly good. The idea is interesting, the environment is very well made, the mechanics is user-friendly. Some missions are solo while other allow or even require team work. I usually either play alone or with Aster, but sometimes I wish I knew more players to gather into a group and play through more difficult areas.
My main character is a Templar named Leliana Amell. She is specializing in Blood Magic and Elementalism. Those who recognize the name will understand the inside joke. Aster's character is also a Templar, Meredith Stannard. No magic here. :)

My Leliana doesn't really look like her namesake, but just look at this Meredith! She's also an unstoppable force in game.
Anyway, if any of my readers is playing this game, let me know.

Watching it after many hours spent in Mass Effect was really amusing. When I saw the Caster's monster, I laughed aloud because it looked like a Reaper. Then my mind immediately casted Saber as Shepard, Rider as Wrex, and Archer as TIM.

In other news, I've got a full time office job, and it's killing me already. Half of the time I'm working like mad (because of deadlines), half of the time I'm dying of boredom. And I can't mix these anyhow to make things better. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but still.

I’ll write down a list of things that’s been keeping me entertained this year.
Film of the Year
Thor
Maybe not the best movie I’ve ever seen, but the most entertaining of what I’ve seen for the first time this year.
TV series of the Year
Warehouse 13
Steampunk aesthetic meets magic in a contemporary world. Yes please!
Book of the Year
Altar of Eden by James Rollins
Not the best book I’ve ever read, but still the most interesting I’ve finished this year. Unfortunately, I didn’t read many books this year. I’ve read more fanfics than before though. And some non-fiction books.
Anime of the Year
Fate Zero
I never liked FS/N much, but this new series is amazing. Saber made it amazing.
Manga of the Year
Kuroshitsuji
It’s so much better than the anime! Grell is <3.
Musical discovery of the Year
Miracle of Sound
Commander Shepard, Age of the Dragon, Sovngarde Song… Once you hear them, you can’t stop listening.
Videogame of the Year
Dragon Age 2
I’d also call it the best RPG I’ve ever played. I loved Origins, but DA2 ate my brain completely.
Best Female Game Character of the Year
Athena Hawke (PC) || Isabela (Supporting)
Head-canon Lady Hawke couldn’t lose to anyone. As well as Isabela.
Best Male Game Character of the Year
Martin Hawke (PC) || Anders (Supporting)
Head-canon wins again. And Anders is the most interesting fictional character I “met” this year.
Best Fandom of the Year
Dragon Age
What a surprise! Seriously, with all its drama, DA fandom is absolutely amazing. And that corner of it I’m hiding in is friendly and warm.
I could write more for each category, but then this post would be endless. Now, back to some fandom fluff. :)
