There really aren't any words. Lots of tears, but no words do justice to what I'm feeling just now so I won't try.

I couldn't have the operation today as there were no beds, so I'm to go back at 10am tomorrow and hopefully they can do it then. The doctor said that I could go home tomorrow evening but I am to go back at 10an the next morning to be checked. They don't want to keep me in as there's a bed shortage, but I really don't want to be home on my own immediately after a general anaesthetic so I'll try to persuade them to keep me for the night. The doctor isn't sure how much of my sight they can save so its wait and see. The scariest thing is that this could happen to the other eye, it happens a lot to short sighted people with high correction levels.

The worst bit will probably be the five days after the operation, I have to lie on my stomach for 50 mins out of every hour. No reasons, no tv. To say that this is a challenge would be an understatement. The no reading lasts for 3 weeks and probably longer for any serious reading. I won't be able to lift anything either. My daughter is coming over tomorrow to cook some food for the fridge but she will be leaving for Australia for three weeks on Thursday, so I think I'll have to tell my mother to get a bit of help. I'd been hoping to avoid that as she's 73, and it doesn't seem fair to her.

So, people, keep your fingers crossed. I have asked my friend Margaret to email an update to a few people, would they please post an update so that people aren't worrying about me?

I'm currently sitting in casualty trying not to feel scared. I have either a detached retina or a hole in my retina, not sure which as the optician used both terms. Had it since Friday, which she was not pleased about. I'm not sure of the outcome but she did say that I'd have to lie flat only stomach for a whole week, which is scary as I live on my own. I don't really want to bother my daughter as she's going to Australia on holidays on Thursday. If anyone wants to send good vibes they would be very welcome! Will update when I can.

After spending a week with other people it's very strange being home on my own.  I expect I'll be used to it again by tomorrow, but for today it's strange.  My cold is no better so I'm staying in, but hopefully tomorrow I'll leave in the computer in to be fixed.

I'm still home sick with the cold.  It's not like me to stay home when I'm sick, and while I'm feeling well enough to be bored I'm not yet well enough to do much.  Not that I will be bored for long, I've been out since Friday so there will be a ton of work to do.

With apologies for the boring post, I'm trying to get myself used to posting again so hopefully more soon.

Today was my first day back in work and I'm too worn out to write a trip report.  However, as I said I was going to post more often to lj I thought I'd better do something.  This is my first attempt at posting photos so fingers crossed, and thanks to byslantedlight for showing me how to add them.  (If the cut doesn't work it's entirely my fault...)

I'm just back online after nearly two weeks when my computer wouldn't connect.  Apologies to anyone to whom I owe emails, I could connect with my phone but it's too fiddly to write on.

I hope to catch up over the next few days, and I'll post the latest news, all of which is good.

...emerges from the file room amid clouds of dust...

I've spent a lot of my free time lately reading in the file room The Circuit Archive, but I had to come out for a while to flat hunt etc. I think I have a buyer for my house :) It's not certain yet so anyone reading this please keep your fingers crossed! The house sold way below its actual value, but there is no helping that in the current climate so I'm trying not to dwell on it.

I've packed a few things this weekend to leave me more time to look for a flat if/when the house sale goes through. I've got 6 boxes full and that's just pictures, breakables and DVDs, I'm afraid to think how many I'll need for the books...

Just out of curiosity I added up the books I haven't read yet – 34, comprising 17 novels, 9 biography/auto-biography, 5 specialist astrology, 2 detective novels and 1 classic. I don't usually read detective novels but one of them I couldn't resist, it's a P.D. James and I always see MS as Adam Dalgliesh. And the title is Devices and Desires, which just happens to be one of my favourite M.Fae fics :)

On Friday I had a day off and finally got to Ikea. Heaven! And fairly pointless considering that I'm moving into a flat, but it was lovely to look, especially at the showrooms and the Billy bookcases. I was happily dreaming my way through the place and then went and had lunch, all in all a lovely day.

Yesterday was spent de-cluttering and working on some writing projects, and I met friends from our Meet Up group for an early bird in the Trocadero restaurant, which was a nice change as I haven't been to a meet up for ages, and today I'm catching up with LJ. All in all a perfect weekend :)
