"Believe me, I am still alive!" [Apr. 7th, 2015|06:56 pm]

So, apparently all the cool kids are on Livejournal... once again.

Things I have been doing:

1. LARPing. This has been wonderful for my creativity. I have a hippie/rocker vampire who is part of a biker group that started out primarily with werewolves, but has grown and is now part of a larger group of supernaturals trying to save the world from a Cthulu-like entity. (I'm not going to bother looking that up to spell it - might be better, anyway. :P)

2. Developing a more interesting sense of humor. Case in point: I enjoyed "Knights of Badassdom." Although, while I commend the mage for endeavoring to learn Enochian - not a bright idea to read from a book you bought on eBay in a language you don't know for a demonic summoning ritual that you want to use to make your LARP more realistic or something! Wisdom fail? Also really enjoyed seeing the actress that played River in "Firefly" in a kind of role reversal as a LARPer.

3. Cosplay. I've been nuts about cosplay. I'm still an assembly cosplayer, but I've been branching out more into hair and makeup. I tried my first lacefront wig and got great results. Most recent has been Daenerys Targaryen, with a small, white, sparkly stuffed dragon I got as a gift for my last nameday... I mean birthday. (Seriously, the person who gave it to me didn't know I was digging the Daenerys thing. Thank you, my birthday party fairy godmother!)

4. Enjoying the most recent spate of Disney movies, particularly the live-action ones. But, honestly, all of the princess ones I have enjoyed, and a few of the others, like "Big Hero 6" and "Wreck-It-Ralph." I love it that retro is coming back. I also love seeing what age people think I am. And I am even more excited about the upcoming Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson!!!!!!!!!

Yes, the exclamation points are justified.

5. Oh, yeah, I'm aspiring to be The Doctor now. The Doctor is cool.

For those of you interested in LJ's lack of functionality recently as well as why there is so much Russian influence, this article might be interesting to you. I found it enlightening.

What a pain - Spokeo Privacy Threat [May. 11th, 2010|09:38 am]

There is a website called Spokeo that posts your personal information based on what you input at various sites, such as Facebook, Myspace, etc. They post all sorts of personal things like the street you live on, your phone number, and even your credit score. You can easily opt out of this by going to their privacy page (http://www.spokeo.com/privacy). That takes down your listing immediately.

Why I Like My Patio [Apr. 25th, 2010|09:47 am]

I was thinking of this this morning, brainstorming, and wanted to share.

I have a little patio out back. It's a reddish concrete type thing, and it feels spacious.
I have an unassuming light green chair out there, and my three little plants.

I like it because it's uncluttered and inviting. I see other people's patios and they're cluttered with lawn chairs, barbecues, and miscellaneous trash. I would like to get some wind chimes and nice lawn furniture, but I'm happy with the simplicity of it right now.
I can see it when I'm driving on the road to my house, and it looks so simple and pretty.

The best time is the afternoon, when there's a beautiful patch of sun and I can sit in my little chair and sunbathe. My mom actually recommended this to me to deal with my mood issues. Just a few minutes a day helps a lot.

So whenever I see a patch of bright sun out there, I act like a cat and curl up in my chair in my own little patch of sun.

This is a link to Raven Boy Music. I discovered an SCA RSS feed (Society for Creative Anachronism, a medieval re-enactment group) and it linked to this.
Such pretty music. So far I've listened to "Lady in Darkness" and "For Her I Dare."
I love this type of schtuff. ^_^ Reminds me of why I wanted to join the SCA in the first place. The romance.
