KWG Twig News — October 2022

2022–2023, News

We’ve had a busy fall in 2022! Here we recap some past events and invite you to join us for upcoming ones.

Past Events

(1) Last month, the KWG twig hosted a table at the Eden Mills Writers Festival, and we were able to talk to many authors and aspiring authors, as well as several attendees who were interested in becoming editors. It was a fantastic day to talk about books with other people who love books. Thank you to the volunteers (@IndieEditor, @BleedingPenEdit, @KWCopyeditor) who helped make it a successful day for our twig!

(2) And thanks to everyone who made it out to our September Guelph social at Beertown. There were members we hadn’t seen in a while, new members, and potential members at the table and we chatted on the patio until they turned the heaters off.

Upcoming Twig Events

(1) Our upcoming social will be held at Borealis Bar and Grill in Kitchener on October 26, 2022, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. More details to come soon.

(2) And book club is back! Our meeting on Wednesday, November 30, will be a virtual book club discussion. The book selection will be announced tomorrow.

Professional Development

(1) Are you planning on taking the copy-editing and/or the stylistic editing certification exam this November? Or do you want to start reviewing for the 2024 tests? Our study group meets weekly via Zoom to discuss a different part of the study guide content (2009 and 2016 versions).

The next meeting is on Thursday, October 6, 6:45–7:15 p.m., and will focus on part B of the copy-editing practice exam in the 2009 study guide. Everyone is welcome! If you’re interested in participating, please email Kim at kim@thinkstiletto.com and she will send you the Zoom link.
