kturtle is a free, open-source educational programming environment from KDE e.V. that teaches programming through turtle graphics. Its Logo-inspired language lets beginners give simple commands—move, turn, repeat—to draw on a canvas and explore geometry, algorithms, and problem-solving in a visual, engaging way.
KTurtle combines an editor, canvas, and execution controls in a single window. It includes syntax highlighting, step-by-step and adjustable-speed execution, undo/redo, and clear, localized error messages. Commands, keywords, and the built-in help can be translated into many languages, making it accessible to learners who are new to English as well as to coding. Students can work with variables, loops, and procedures, experiment safely, and immediately see the results of their ideas.
Designed for classrooms and self-directed learning, KTurtle lowers the barrier to entry while leaving room to grow. It’s a friendly way to build a strong foundation in programming and computational thinking.
kturtle is developed by KDE e.V.. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 23.0, 24.1, 25.0, 25.1 and 26.0. The name of the program executable file is kturtle.exe.
