Our Data Ethics

The digital sector accounts for 10% of global electricity consumption and 5% of greenhouse gas emissions. As a Data & AI consultancy, KPC has a responsibility — and a concrete plan of action.

Digital sobriety is a crucial issue!

The Data and Digital professions have a significant environmental footprint.

As a major economic player in this market, KPC has integrated into its operations and values the search for a positive impact to contribute to the objective of digital sobriety.

10% is the digital sector's share of global electricity consumption.

5 % of the world's greenhouse gas emissions come from the digital sector.

The volume of digital data stored in France has increased fivefold over the past decade — and continues to grow.

As part of our CSR approach, we have integrated the sharing of this value within the company.

We raise the awareness of our employees so that, wherever possible, we can choose or encourage them to choose solutions that contribute to this objective.

In our business, the storage of digital data for management and reporting purposes continues to grow exponentially in France, prompting companies to continuously increase their IT resources.

This expansion is leading to increased consumption of physical resources, in particular servers and data centres, with a considerable environmental impact.

When managing projects, we recommend eco-design practices at every stage:

  • Optimise the ETL process by avoiding memory-hungry components, favouring SQL sorting and detecting live data for incremental loading.
  • Recommendation in SQL language, to query only relevant data, index key columns, and apply good syntax practices to save resources.

At the architectural level, we help our clients rationalise their digital infrastructures — through cloud platform adoption, resource pooling and on-demand scalability — reducing both cost and environmental footprint.

«All better informed, all aware and all committed. That's what we're aiming for at KPC, so that every day we can play an increasingly virtuous role in containing and even reducing the environmental impact of the solutions we design and produce.»
