Kore uses low-cost feedstock to produce high-purity silicon cost-effectively.
100%
Produced in Europe
Kore’s production process is cost-competitive anywhere in the world, enabling a reliable and resilient local supply chain.
Silicon is everywhere
You’re reading this on a device made possible by silicon.
From the phone in your pocket, to the car you drive, from the solar panels powering our homes, silicon is the backbone of our modern economy.
Kore’s process
How it works
1. Low-cost silica sand
Kore’s process uses low cost sand, the most abundant resource on earth, as its primary feedstock.
2. Molten Salt Electrolysis
The process dissolves the sand in a bath of molten salt and then uses electricity to separate the silicon and oxygen in the sand. The silicon deposits on the cathode and oxygen evolves at the anode.
3. Post-processing
After taking the cathode out of the melt, the silicon is post-processed, where any remaining salt is removed.
4. High-purity low-carbon silicon
This leaves a pristine, high-purity silicon metal, ready for delivery to our customers.
