Anyway, as soon as I bought this doujinshi I knew I had to share it. The art is amazingly pretty and cute, and well... the rest, see for yourself! I tried my best to make the scans clear without doing too much damage to my doujin. I did crack the spine, so the edges may be a little blurry but for the most part I think it came out alright. :) It took me four hours to scan this between doing all my normal chores.
As far as crediting goes, feel free to use for icons/banners/what-have-you. I'd just be happy if you linked back to this post. Furthermore, I'd be happy if you commented to let me know you downloaded this. Lastly, since this is hosted on my personal domain, please no insane hotlinking!
To my friendslist: I hope this image doesn't break your friendslist or anything! I don't think it's that big...

So, last night was fantastic. I mean, super fantastic. I want to see Adam live over and over again because I enjoyed it so much. I will review from the top, with pictures.
First, my makeup. I went with a look similar to La Roux's in her Bulletproof video, plus lots of glitter. Lots of glitter. I thought I went over the top when I got to the concert and nobody was as glittery as me, at least, when I first walked up. There were tons of people with super glam makeup, glitter, glowsticks, and rhinestones. all very happy making. I went for a frohawk too, which looks better in real life than it does in a photo, but hey. I put glitter on that too.
( me first!Collapse )
There was a line in front of me a block and a half long, and then there was a line behind also a block and a half long. It was ridiculous yet I was incredibly happy to see such turn out for Adam. The venue was moved from the Simon Estes amphitheatre due to flooding and instead was on Walnut Bridge. I actually like the venue change because it was somehow more intimate. I was fairly close to the stage, maybe six or seven "rows" away (estimating, since there were no real rows, just bodies). On Adam's facebook page he says, "We are playing an overpass slash intersection today." and I was like "...yep, that's IA!"
( line of people, the stageCollapse )
My pictures from here on out are pretty crap, there will only be a few really. Allison Iraheta was the opening act for Adam, she came on at about 8:15. I hadn't managed to listen to any of her music before going, but I was pleasantly surprised by her music. It's good, her voice is fabulous, and she puts on a good show. She projects well and you can see she's into her music. It was a good opening, we were pretty psyched by the end of it. I have some video of her I may post later, when I'm not at Luci's. Her internet connection is paltry in comparison to mine, so it took forever just to get this pictures on photobucket. Anyway. There was one song of hers I really liked, 'Don't Waste The Pretty'. I recommend everyone listen to it.
As her last song of the set, she covered Heartbreaker, by Pat Benatar. Decent cover, everyone sang along.
( allison irahetaCollapse )
Then, after nearly a 40-minute wait between sets, Adam came on. Luci and I had been separated by this time and she says she was in a position where she could see directly backstage. While we were cheering and waiting for Adam to come on, he was in the back drinking coffee, she said. Or tea, whichever kind of hot drink you want to assume was in the coffee-like cup. I thought that was kind of adorable, ha, and Adam-like to be drinking coffee before a 9:30 concert.
They intro'd him by playing a remix of For Your Entertainment, which everyone sang along to, and then he came out on stage. More like burst out on stage, in this fedora with floofy flowers, a long furry jacket, and all the glitter in the world. The first two songs he opened with were songs I didn't know since they were covers, but I enjoyed them all the same. His voice is higher live than recorded, but it didn't sound any less amazing. He is so flaming in general, guys, you'd need a fire extinguisher to put that man out. Once he'd finished singing the first few songs, he sat and talked for a bit, asking the crowd how we were, telling us we were beautiful, and thanking us for coming out.
He said a short speech about the Glam Nation tour being about love, and -- this is where I was really impressed - he lined up his songs to be a love story. He started by singing Fever, which represented the infatuation stage. Then he sang Sleepwalker, Soaked, and Aftermath, which are pretty much breaking up songs. During Soaked there were fireworks in DSM for labor day, and it seemed like nobody knew they were happening. It was a really poignant moment because Adam stops singing and says, "hey everyone, fireworks!" and he sits down on the stairs of the stage and watches the grand finale with us. He says, "is it the fourth of July, what day is it, guys? Are these fireworks for me? This is fabulous, thank you Iowa! Oh wait, here comes the grand finale!"
And it was just plain adorable and good and happy-making, that. He got up and finished the song when the fireworks were over. Then he sang Aftermath, and woo, I absolutely love Aftermath. It really resonates with me, especially the specific lyrics:
And I cried when he sang that part. I looked around a bit to see if anybody was giving me "o.O" eyes, but everybody was so focused I was able to sniffle and swoon in peace.
I felt pretty full of just a whirlwind of emotion at that point, but it apparently wasn't yet overflowing because he interluded with Strut, and man, that note in the middle of the song that he holds? Absolutely amazing. It's my favourite part of that song and seeing it live has not diminished my like in any fashion. After that, he sang Sure Fire Winners. I like that song, and the performance was good, but it kind of doesn't stand out as much to me because it's squashed in between Aftermath and If I Had You. He also sang Whataya Want From Me, after telling us that when we're in love, sometimes things get hard, but we need to ask the right questions. I thought that was a pretty good opening into the song. :3
Before he sang If I Had You, he made a point to tell everyone that this is what his tour was all about, that money, fame, and all the sex in the world doesn't matter if it isn't connected to someone you love. He asked everyone to jump when the chorus came, so I jumped too, and we also had a sing-a-long near the end of the song to finish it out. It's really one of my favourite songs on the CD, and so I had been anticipating all night to hear it live. That was the "end" of the set, though he came back out on stage to sing Mad World by Gary Jules as his encore.
I left the bridge aching and tired from standing for four hours, but I am convinced it was worth it. Hell, more than worth it. I feel a little brand new, as if all I needed was one good push to make me realize that things are not so bad, there is still stuff for me to do and accomplish in life, and that I can do these things, absolutely. As someone else on LJ said, it's like Adam runs around with glitter scissors cutting away insecurities. I definitely feel like that after last night.
(also, it didn't hurt that I finally got my payment from elance when I came home. Hello, extra $160 dollars!)

Wanna scream out, no more hiding
Don't be afraid of what's inside
Gonna tell ya you'll be alright
In the aftermath
Anytime anybody pulls you down
Anytime anybody says you're not allowed
Just remember you are not alone
In the aftermath
And I cried when he sang that part. I looked around a bit to see if anybody was giving me "o.O" eyes, but everybody was so focused I was able to sniffle and swoon in peace.
