Friday 13th
Today is already shaping up to be interesting, I got stuck in the (usually very reliable!) lift at work this morning. I took a very deep breath, attempted not to think about the fact that I was stuck in a very small enclosed space and calmly pressed the alarm buzzer (ok, I have to admit, this was kind of exciting. I’ve always wanted to press the alarm buzzer in much the same why I want to press big red buttons with ‘Do No Press’ written above them.)
Nothing happened. NOTHING.
So, of course, I pressed it again. And again. Oh and y’know again.
Nothing. Nada.
I had this sudden fear of being stuck in there indefinitely.
Thank fuck for mobile phones, is all I can say. I called work, and the phone rang, and rang, and rang. By this point, I was pacing and starting to feel more than a little on edge. I have this irrational fear that one day I’ll wake up or I’ll go somewhere and everyone in the world will just disappear - something I’ve always had (yeah I know, abandonment issues much?!).
Finally someone answered. I explained what was happening and how the damn alarm button wasn’t working. Colleague was lovely, and said she’d contact the maintenance guys.
At this point, the alarm buzzer decides to start working and dials through to the help centre. V bored voice comes through saying can they help me. No, I just thought I’d press this buzzer for the lulz!! Help would be much appreciated! I’m stuck in a bloody lift! *sigh*
Colleague phoned me back to let me know that she’d called the maintenance guys and they were on the way. Other colleagues had heard what was happening and started to shout to see if I was ok, which was good. Didn’t feel quite so bad, knowing there were people outside. It didn’t stop me giggling hysterically though.
Maintenance guys arrived and started trying to open the doors, much banging about. The lift dropped slightly (and I was quite willing to shout and scream for them to leave me in here - I don’t wanna drop three levels!!). Doors finally opened. I have never been so relieved. Lift was stuck between floors so I had to climb out in a very unladylike fashion.
So…that’s the run down of my morning. Nothing like being stuck in a lift to really make you appreciate that first cup of coffee and ciggie of the day.
*sigh* so far the rest of my morning has been uneventful. There was a long and rather boring meeting. I don’t think I could have coped if it had been exciting. :p
Btw – lookit teh purdy mood theme. Jynxie found lots of the piccy’s and showed me how to add them all. :D *loves her Jynxie*
