I was always against changing my LJ username.  It seemed to me somehow sneaky, like I was running out on myself.  People might think I was a sock, too, which would be terribly bad.  I've wandered to and away from LJ for a long time and I've changed a lot from the person who started it waaaaay back in the day.  So I'm starting a new LJ because I miss writing about my life.  I have a Facebook, but I made the decision to keep that mainly for people I know IRL.  This really brought home to me the fact that we sometimes lead very different lives.  I've reached the point where I can't talk about certain things on Facebook any longer, due to business, academic, and family contacts being on it.  I mean, can you really talk about that great (or horrifying) yaoi you just saw and why it was great (or horrifying) when you know that your 91 year old grandfather AND the professor who supervised your Master's dissertation (and who you will one day have to beg for a letter of recommendation for a Ph.D.) are watching?  Not likely.  Anyway, just to put it out in the open where everyone can see, I am also rebeccasama  who has written for LOTR, Harry Potter, Pet Shop of Horrors, Final Fantasy, and maybe a few others I'm not remembering right now because I ought to be asleep.

So here I am.

I haven't added any friends yet, except for my most belovd spacebee who has put up with me for more years than she should have, so I'm going to take this opportunity to write an introductory post before I go friends-only.  I am friendly (I swear) so feel free to comment.  But now the good part: who the hell am I and what do  write about?  I'd give you the short version, but I'm an English major and we don't do that.
