A number of a peeves....

Drug: a substance that is used as a medicine or narcotic; or the act of administering said substance
Dragged:the past participle and past tense of drag, i.e. to pull along forcefully
Example: he was dragged into the bedroom
NOT: he was drug into the bedroom
While the use of "drug" is sometimes used as dialect and colloquial variants, it still bugs me!

Also could of, should of, would of.... No, no, no! It's could have, should have, would have! Or could've, should've, would've.

Lastly - it's "I couldn't care less." Yes, really. There's a pretty good argument/explanation here.

I'm such a bad person! I actually enjoy reading the wank on the DA kmeme more than I do the fills these days. ^^;; Despite wank being labelled as such, it does have the potential to challenge opinions, conclusions and assumptions, and if people can be mature and objective about it, it could actually turn out to be an interesting debate. (But who am I kidding? :p)

People really need to stop posting their knee-jerk reaction to, well, critical critiques. Have a think about it before hitting the submit button. Even as I write this I know I will sit on it for hours and agonise over the contents and its implication.

I'm Chinese, and even tho I live in the UK, I cook oriental meals all the time. About the only the only thing I cook that isn't eastern is spagetti bolognese and that comes out of a jar, so it doesn't count.

So I'm wondering, what do you "westerners" cook for your family meals? I'd be interested in trying them out :) for variety sake if nothing else. the simpler the better, cuz really i'm a lazy cook. Also chibi is allergic to dairy.

When I first decided to learn how to make bread yonks ago, I found it rather challenging. I probably made 10 attempts before I was satisfied with the results. Sure, they were edible, most of them anyway, but they were all quite dense and sometimes chewy.

Despite so many experts saying that bread making was so very easy, I certainly didn't find it excessively so. It's only easy when you already know what to do.

After trawling the net for recipes, tips and tutorial videos, and I realised that bread making is more intuitive – where adding ingredients and kneading greatly depended on experience and instinct. Whereas, cake making is more methodical – that is, following the recipe exactly produces the best result. I dare say I bake cakes reasonably well, so I was stumped and disappointed when my bread didn't come out exactly what I expected.

It also helped to understand the science behind bread making, i.e. yeast reaction, gluten forming, etc.

Thus, taking the cumulative advice I found and experimenting on my own, I finally, finally, found success!
