Difference Makers honors Sen. Linda Chesterfield

March is Women's History Month and KATV is celebrating Difference Maker Senator Linda Chesterfield. Chesterfield represents District 30, which includes parts of Pulaski County on both the south and north sides of the Arkansas River. She was elected to the Senate in November 2010 and sworn in January 2011. A native of Hope, she was also the first African-American to graduate from Hendrix College in Conway.

Difference Makers honors Lottie Shackleford

March is Women's History Month and KATV is celebrating Difference Maker Lottie Shackleford. She has made history with her work in local, state, and national politics for over 40 years. In 1987, she became the first woman to be elected mayor in Little Rock, according to the Arkansas Women's Hall of Fame. Six years later,President Bill Clinton appointed her to the Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, making her the first African American woman to serve on that board.

Difference Makers: Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity

Being the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African American men, Alpha Phi Alpha has supplied a voice and vision to people of color around the world. After being created at Cornell, chapters were established at other colleges and universities across the country. Several of the chapters were at historically black institutions.

Difference Makers honors Coach Ed Johnson

With over five decades of service to his country and community,Ed Johnson has made a difference in countless lives. After returning home from the Vietnam War, where he received multiple accolades including two Purple Heart Awards, Johnson helped form the Sunset Tigers Football Team. Johnson said he was "obeying an order from God" in organizing the team. His role as a coach helped him readjust to society after his time in Vietnam while giving the players an inspirational role model.

Difference Makers to honor Rev. Hezekiah D. Stewart, Jr.

In 1978,Rev. Hezekiah D. Stewart, Jr. and the Mt. Nebo African Methodist Episcopal Church founded Watershed. Located in the former Gillam Park School building, it serves all people who come to its doors in Pulaski County and surrounding areas. It has a food pantry and helps in assisting with utilities. Difference Makers to honor Little Rock's Mary Williams

94-years-young, Mary Louise Williams is a retired Little Rock educator and was one of the first African American selected to break the color line during the integration of Little Rock Public Schools. A friend of Daisy Bates, she continues her legacy through efforts on the Daisy Bates House Museum Foundation.
