in celebration of Filipino American History Month (FAHM), Filipino Americans in Tech is partnering with students UCLA UC Irvine UC San Diego Vanderbilt University Purdue University Boston University and Wayne State University to give back to Filipino businesses with Kapwa Codefest, a virtual hackathon!!
with the support from Vercel, Warp, and Sorce (YC F25), Kapwa Codefest aims to connect students to Filipino businesses to empower them to solve problems they are facing in real life.
participants will get hands-on experience planning out the full product lifecycle: start with a problem statement, create a structured solution plan, implement the solution, and finally delivering a persuasive demo that showcases why their approach is the best fit for the business.
in other words, winners of this hackathon will get a chance at seeing their solutions for real business problems implemented in real life (i.e. a really good resume project and experience).
to ensure fair evaluations, judges will remain anonymous, particularly in cases where presentation style could introduce bias
