Sanjo Kaji Dojo "Introductory Course"

Under the guidance of the Echigo-Sanjo Kaji Shudan (Blacksmiths Group), participants will make a traditional "kiridashi" knife while experiencing processes such as forge shaping, quenching, and sharpening.

2026 Workshop Schedule

Sanjo Kaji Dojo plans to host the following blacksmithing workshops in 2026, with master blacksmiths from the Echigo Sanjo Kaji Shudan serving as instructors.

Regular Workshops

Regular course: Letter opener making experience from a nail

Hammer, shape, and polish — a broader world of blacksmithing.

Date and time: Daily 9:00 - 11:00 am, 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Regular course: Kitchen knife sharpening experience

We will teach you the important culture of Japanese technology of resharpening of a kitchen knife.

Date and time: Daily 9:00 am - 11:00 am, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Regular course: Nail making experience

Experience the traditional techniques of a blacksmith,
heating iron, hitting with a hammer, and forming into shape.
Date and time: Reservation unnecessary in the case of 3 people or less
