Want to try that again?? [Apr. 16th, 2015|09:54 pm]
kahva
Just saw somebody post on Facebook in response to a share of the new Star Wars trailer that they weren't going to see this one because they "wish they had stuck to canon".

Bwhaaaa??

Ummmm... Hello, this is an official Star Wars movie, continuing on from the original trilogy, for which there is NO MOVIE CANON because it hasn't been made yet!!! Or rather, not until now.

Which means, this IS canon. Yes, there's the Expanded Universe in the tie-in novels, but there's so much of that that has been contradicted for so long. Canon for the movieverse is what is in the movies. This is an official Star Wars movie. Picks up from the end of the original trilogy. IT. IS CANON.

Facebook person, want to try your argument again?

I have a Patreon campaign now [Apr. 5th, 2015|04:15 am]

I'm trying an experiment here - I now have a Patreon account for my writing, located here: https://www.patreon.com/JJRoberson?ty=2

Please feel free to share, as if this campaign is successful, not only will it take a lot of stress off of me and free up more time for my writing (and my jewelry business, I'm not giving that up!), but it will also aid with the actual writing, allowing me to upgrade my computer to something that isn't slow as molasses in the winter, upgrade my word processing software, and should I end up going the self-publishing route, aid in that as well. Thank you all in advance! :)

I... I have a need to get heavy duty pliers, I think [Feb. 14th, 2015|02:21 am]

I want to make this now. I have no clue if there's a guy around here that I know that would model this for me, plus I'm betting those are 12 or 14 gauge (SWG) stainless steel rings there in this European 4 in 1, so OW, wrists and arms! - but I want to make this now.

I just need the model and materials and tools. In pretty much reverse order there, but one part of my brain is going, "Yum!" and the chain maille part is counting rows and looking to see if it can spot any seams in the rings or if they're soldered.

Please feel free to share this fundraiser, thank you! :) [Jan. 1st, 2015|07:44 pm]

I have decided that I will be running this fundraiser through to the end of January, at which point I will close this fundraiser. I have opportunities to get into conventions in the coming months, but getting into these venues costs money both with securing a booth space and travel expenses. If I can't meet these costs, then I can't attend these events as a vendor or artist to sell my jewelry and grow my business. I'm not well-established enough to be able to try for a small business loan, anything like that is quite a ways down the road, providing I am able to grow my business in the interim. I can grow my business and I will grow it, and I can do it with your help! Any and all contributions are very appreciated, believe me. Chain maille is a passion for me, and I hope to one day possibly make my living doing this ancient art, and also to teach others how to make chain maille. But I need some help to grow this business, please. If you would like to help me build my business so that I can get to more conventions, please check out my fundraiser here: http://www.gofundme.com/dcfwuc For those who are new to this page, here are the links to my Etsy shop, and my brand-new Cafe Press shop for things non-maille and non-jewelry. Thank you for stopping by!

Fight Chiari in Jolene's name! [Nov. 24th, 2014|01:19 am]

yoiebear, who as some of you are probably aware of by now, passed away a few days ago. She was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation years ago and dealt with the pain it brought her with such bravery. Her family has started a fundraiser to battle Chiari in her name, here: http://www.razoo.com/story/Conquer-Chiari-In-Joie-S-Name

Please spread this link far and wide, and as it says, fight Chiari in Jo's name.

Would you like to help me launch my business? :) [Nov. 9th, 2014|01:56 am]

Public post here, so please feel free to share this post or the link below. :)

I have debated for several months now on whether or not to do a fundraiser to try and help myself with my efforts to truly get my jewelry business launched. In the last few days, I have finally decided to go for it. So to that end I have set up a fundraiser on GoFundMe, and whatever may be raised I will get, it's not an all-or-nothing type of campaign.

These funds will help me with supplies and tools, signage for booths/tables, getting into and then to and from conventions, displays for conventions and fairs, and other overhead costs for getting a business truly launched. If the fundraiser really goes gangbusters - hey, I can hope, right? :) - I would be able to look into getting a small studio space somewhere to both work on and sell my jewelry from.

Any and all donations are very much appreciated, as are any and all shares of the fundraiser. I have accepted the fact that to make this dream come true I am going to have to have some help getting myself and my jewelry out there. The fundraiser can be found here: http://www.gofundme.com/dcfwuc

Many thanks to you all in advance for sharing! :) :)

Must... write... something!! [Nov. 8th, 2014|01:03 am]

My writing groove has been missing of late, and I've missed having my writing mojo. But it's back now, and while I would like to be writing on my original works at the moment, it's fanfic that's making the stronger comeback so fanfic it will be while I stoke the fires for my original work. Question is, should it be Battlestar Galactica or The Streets of San Francisco, hmmm...

(has visions of 70s police Inspectors dancing in her head) Okay, time to work on SOSF fic then it would seem! :)
