My cards can be found over here!

If you'd like to trade, you can either comment here or use the form on the website. I usually leave trades pending for about a week, and I'll hold cards for people pretty much indefinitely, so ask away!

The following is a brief writeup on Jintori Game; it covers the basics of the premise and notes on the characters. It's half for my own reference and half because Laena, Saigi, and I are the only ones who know much about this series at the moment 8|;;

...so basically it's probably only interesting to Mineko Ohkami fans.

info goes hereCollapse )

I have read Uzumaki.

...I was going to say something coherent, but I forgot what it was. Um. WHAT THE FLYING FUCKING FUCK DID I JUST READ. WHAT THE SHIIIIT.

It is 19 chapters long, plus a bonus chapter. The first two chapters are the freakiest things ever, and then it gets worse. But by chapter 16, it's not freaky anymore. You are all freaked out and have no room left in your brain for more freaky. It shows you stuff that should be even more horrifying than the stuff in the first two chapters, and you just don't care anymore. Then in the last chapter, it is confirmed that the author was indeed on acid on the whole time, and then in the bonus chapter, a guy's head explodes and becomes a galaxy.

I I. What.

I shall now proceed to spend the next few days terrified of spirals, fingerprints, ears, pottery, hurricanes, tornadoes, wooden houses, snails, curly hair, pregnant women, crying babies, SNAILS DID I MENTION SNAILS, lighthouses, wind, small children, lakes, and SPIRALS DID I MENTION SPIRLS OH GOOOOOOOD /WEEPS.

[EDIT] So I also read The Enigma of Amigara Fault while I was at it, and am reading Gyo now. This author is insane.

So this...started off as just me putting a note in a text file to add to an entry later, except then I started babbling and now there is a full-fledged entry on a completely different topic. /dies.

Topics: why ensemble shows should introduce characters slowly, why OCD does not make you an arsonist, and a long spiel on why there should be more, accurate representations of people with mental issues in fiction, with tangents about my own Issues.

My original point was just the first part. Really, it was.

and then I started talking...Collapse )

1) Everyone's aware that the season finale of Supernatural last night sucked, right? Good. (Though Castiel did get a Crowning Moment of Awesome.)

2) When I woke up this morning, I discovered that a bunch of little men have taken up residence inside my skull and are doing their best to push out the front of it. Ow ow ow.

3) The sub shop sells these strawberry-shortcake-in-a-cup things that are utterly delicious. Clearly I must get them more often.

4) I managed to bork up my class registration, meaning I accidentally signed up for summer classes instead of fall. Oops. So a few days ago I realize this and fix it. Only after I fix it, of course, does the school send my mother a bill for the summer classes, and my advisor starts emailing and calling me going OMG YOU AREN'T SIGNED UP FOR FALL CLASSES WHAT'S WRONG. You guys are really smart, huh.

5) I have watched less than half an episode of White Collar and I am madly in love with Neal. MADLY IN LOVE. Laena, when you were trying to get me to watch this show, you should've just explained what this guy does in the first 15 minutes.

My religion teacher has outdone himself. His latest offense is, and I almost-quote:

"Selfish Christians who only follow the religion because they want to go to heaven are bullshit Christians, and they should get out of the Christianity business."

He didn't even mean this one as a joke, like most of his previous offensive comments. He was entirely serious. (And made a big deal about his use of the word "bullshit", I might add -- what are you, five? If you're going to swear, do it, don't go on about how you're such a naughty person for it and then whisper the word.)

Later he got back to the jokes: apparently the students here are all "damn pagans", and as such we sacrifice sheep in our dorm rooms. Nice to know.

Oh, and apparently there are very few "true" Christians in the world. I'm not sure what a "true" Christian is, but it's lovely to see him invalidate a bunch of people's faith on unknown criteria. Did I mention this guy isn't Christian? Who the hell is he to judge "true" representatives of the faith when he doesn't even share that faith?

I am really getting absolutely sick of this. It's one thing for him to have these opinions he's obviously so very fond of, but it's another thing entirely for him to say them out loud, in a classroom setting where he's the authority figure, and expect us to agree with him and think it's funny. No, actually, you insulting my religion isn't funny. You insulting a religion I respect isn't funny. Hell, you insulting a religion I don't respect isn't funny. Even if your comments aren't bad enough to outright offend me, many of them still make me uncomfortable, and they're inappropriate for an academic setting where you are supposed to be teaching us, in a non-biased manner, about religions.

I will be really fucking happy when this class is over.

This morning I discovered that someone made a self-contained native installer for Mediawiki. Meaning, you download an .exe file, run the install wizard, and Mediawiki runs on your computer without you having to manually install PHP/MySQL/Apache/etc. This is awesome. I haven't played with it too much yet, so I'm not sure how obnoxious and resource-hogging the necessary processes are, but dude I'm running my own private Wikipedia. Sweeeeeet.

I shall be using it for world-building, since my latest Project is redesigning the Edge-verse world. It is a billion times easier to keep track of my notes in wiki format, and all of the desktop wiki programs I've tried annoy me, whereas Mediawiki does not. (Actually I love Tiddlywiki, too, but it doesn't work as well for this purpose.) Probably'll also use it to keep track of my Incarnations of Immortality notes, since I'm up to the second book and said notes are going to become very necessary soon. (And I have a separate rant on how Piers Anthony's writing both intrigues and annoys me at the same time, but that's for later.)

Also I really wish my roommate could move her kitchen stuff out of the room. Or at least move the knife-block somewhere other than the corner of her desk. Since I have to pass right by there to leave the room, and these desks are not sturdy. And what I really need in my life is extra anxiety. Arrrgh. (Plus the thing is right in my line of sight when I look up from the computer, and just looking at it makes my brain have all sorts of extra thoughts I do not want...)
