Ah, the childness that comes to LJ with NASCAR season. It amuses me. The other day, Tiffany told me about a (public) post that
flippinforcarl had made in their LJ, concerning Dale Jr. The post was entitled "An Open Letter to Junior Fans". Well...I'm a Junior fan, that means it's an open letter to me, therefore I'm entitled to comment on it, correct?
The contents of the post were as follows:
Have any of you ever stopped to think that if Dale had intended for complete control of DEI to go to Jr that he would have put that in his will? Maybe Dale wanted Teresa to have complete control. The world will not come to an end if Jr doesn't drive the 8 car. What makes him any more special than any other driver? Frankly all of this bullshit surrounding Jr is turning me off of NASCAR. The races are turning into the Dale Jr show and it sucks. He's a mediocre driver at best. I hope he never wins another race so his fans finally realize that it's the driver, not the team. A good team can't win with a driver that isn't that good. Hell, he's 32 years old and is just now learing to say more than that the car is a piece of shit. His fans need to wake up and realize that the entire world does not revolve around him. I can't wait to see him try to bully Jeff and Jimmie like he did to Micheal and Steve. Maybe Micheal and Steve were stupid enough to believe that only Jr was allowed to win, but I doubt that Jeff and Jimmie will buy into it. Someone needs to teach that little boy a lesson. That's right, Jr is a little boy. He didn't get his way, so he is taking his toys and playing somewhere else. Maybe if he grows up and stops letting Kelley be the puppetmaster, he can accomplish something. If you want to hate anyone, hate her. She pulls the strings and makes Jr do her bidding. He has little business experience of his own. Kelley does all the real work. DEI would be in her control not Jrs. I am sick of hearing people bashing Teresa constantly. She helped to build DEI. She has the right to it.Nice, no? Well, since it is an OPEN letter to Junior fans, I decided to reply (even knowing that Tiffany had been banned from commenting in said journal, due to having the audacity to reply and not agree with her). My initial reaction was to just comment with a "Oh, shut the fuck up." Mostly because I was not in a pleasant mood that day to begin with. However, I knew this was not overly mature of me, so I decided to wait a couple of days until my mood had gotten better. I wanted to think out my response, and put a little effort into it. Last night, I left the following comment on the entry:
Okay, I'm going to comment here because...I see some flaws in some of your reasoning. I realize that it's all just your opinion, and you have the right to state it as you see it...but I also would like to throw my two cents into the mix.
I won't comment too much on the control of DEI thing, as nobody can be 100% sure of all the details in that situation. What I will say, however, is that I've heard even people in the sport...who knew Dale...that he always meant for that company to be for his kids. It's not just the fans who are saying it. Why he didn't change his will, I don't know. None of us do, and never will.
As for your claims that Junior's problems lie with the driver and not the equipment...it's quite interesting to look back over this past year and realize that all of his worst finishes? Due to equipment failure. 5 out of 6 DNFs were due to engine loss. In fact, I don't think it's too far fetched to say that he would be in the Chase right now if not for equipment failure.
I also gather, from what I'm reading, that you feel he only ever did well because his teammates were "bullied" into believing that only Junior could win. Well, you said it yourself...a "good" team can't win with a driver that isn't that good. I'm sorry, but Michael and Steve don't exactly have illustrious careers away from DEI. Could it be that the problem was that...they were the problem?
You don't have to like him, and you don't have to agree with his career moves. Hell, you don't even have to like his fans if you don't want to (and, apparently...you don't). But, there's also really no reason to be rude and condescending about it. You go on believing what you want, and allow us to believe what we want. To the best of my knowledge, and forgive me if I'm wrong, but nobody has made a personal attack against you so, why the big fuss just because some of us choose to stand behind a driver that you don't necessarily like? Not too bad of a response, I don't think.
This morning, just for shits and giggles, I decided to see I had suffered the same "banned from commenting" fate as Tiffers. But, oh no, this gets better. The ENTIRE POST HAS BEEN DELETED (or, possibly changed to Friends Only). Hmm...talk about not getting your way, so you take your toys and play elsewhere. Apparently we can't handle it when people don't agree with every word we say, or if they are able to offer counter arguements to what we've said. God forbid we try to defend our views. Oh, no, we'll just hide and pretend like it never happened.
I've also been banned from commenting in her journal.
On another note...I don't know if this has anything to do with my comment or not, but the Chase icons I posted the other day? She had taken two of them and were using them. They've since been deleted from her icons. Possibly related, possibly not. I can't say for sure.
For the record, I'm making this post public and comments won't be screened. If anyone knows her and wants to tell her about this post...go for it. I, unlike her, am not a baby. I have the balls to not have to hide behind friends filters, screened posts, and banning people from commenting.
The saddest part of it all...is that she is (supposedly) older than I am. Wow. Grow up.
