Supporting Communities in Need

TC Energy Math for Success Fund

Thanks to the support of TC Energy’s social impact program, Build Strong, JUMP Math launched the TC Energy Math for Success Fund in 2023 to provide evidence-based and curriculum-aligned classroom resources and professional learning to 40 teachers in underserved Ontario and Alberta school communities for the 2023-24 school year. TC Energy’s support has since allowed us to expand this support to 80 schools across Canada.

Tutoring Support

Beyond 3:30 Program

Through a multi-year partnership with the Toronto Foundation for School Success’s (TFSS) Beyond 3:30 after-school program, JUMP Math is providing math learning support to 1,500 children at 19 schools in priority neighbourhoods in Toronto. Thanks to the generous, ongoing support of TD Bank Group, our team has created math instruction resources and done training with TFSS program staff, as well as providing engaging games and activities for the kids to strengthen their mental math, number sense and problem-solving skills, and overall understanding and enjoyment of math.

Homeward Bound Program

JUMP Math is also providing after school support to math tutors and students through a multi-year partnership with Woodgreen’s Homeward Bound program. This program provides a variety of supports to single mothers and their children, including an ‘After 4’ program that includes drop-in homework help and and one-on-one tutoring.  We provide specialized resources for the tutors, including learning modules, assessments, games, and activities for the children, that reinforces the learning they’re receiving at school. Participants have shown significant improvement in their math comprehension and school marks since the program began two years ago.

Indigenous Community Partnerships

Since 2003, JUMP Math has been developing strong relationships, working directly with Indigenous school communities across Canada to support educators and students on and off reserve to improve math outcomes. Annually, JUMP Math is reaching 12.5K students on and off reserve. Additionally, JUMP Math has provided free math resources and training to Indigenous communities, as well as enabling translations of our materials into Indigenous languages, through the support of charitable foundations and partnerships.

Math Skills Booster Program

To address the urgent need to equip youth with the math skills needed to pursue future careers in STEM, JUMP Math has created and is piloting a Math Skills Booster program in partnership with the University of Manitoba. The goal of this high intensity bootcamp is to help high school and first-year college & university students boost their math skills to better prepare them to succeed in STEM-related courses requiring deeper math skills.

Our Global Impact

JUMP Math’s program and resources are currently supporting thousands of students to learn and love math in Spain, Chile, Columbia, Bulgaria, India, Nigeria, and other countries globally. Learn more through the stories below on our blog.
