Detour

detour, how do you follow your road, joys of joel poems, poem about following your road, finding your true home, rhyming poem about life's choices
Detour – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

Every road
has two directions

it doesn’t come
with instructions

which way you choose
you never lose

lessons are learned
every turn and bend

but sometimes
don’t you wonder

why a different road
take you to the same abode

when you think
a change is all you need

so you took that path
they can’t believe

but just like a maze
a jigsaw place

the other road
it doesn’t seem

the right way
to rearrange

the puzzle
of your broken dreams

and when you reach
the final end

your journey
becomes your friend

for deep inside
you found the truth

the road will
always lead you back

to your true self
your final home.

The Wall Crasher

the wall crasher, digital arts with poetry, joys of joel poems, poem about a cougars worry
The Wall Crasher – a cougar’s tale – – – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com

You let your guard down crashing that wall
hoping that humpty dumpty will finally fall

the wall that should break down
when everyone in town

is wagging their tongue
like the beating of the drums

while the time is ticking
for you there is no changing

why bother what they’re thinking
their judgment is not your honor

And in truth when you wonder
if their clap is the thunder

soon it won’t matter
if you stop feeding their hunger

by ignoring their clamor
no need to be a wall crasher

doesn’t matter if you’re a cougar
age is just a number.

Where is My Daddy

child abandonment, broken homes, writings and quote about separation, joys of joel poems, where is my daddy
Where Is My Daddy? – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

A long talk after our barbie games, my childhood friend burst into tears.  Her first broken heart at the tender age of 10.  Her parents separated.  At such a young age i’m totally clueless why some things are not meant to stay.

Twenty four years later, history repeats itself.  She just separated from her husband after eleven years of being together , they finally call it quits.

“Heaven and hell i tried to make it work, i don’t want my kids to feel the pain,” was her words.  I’m speechless, i don’t know what to say.  I can’t say i feel what she’s feeling,  i was never a part of a broken family.  I can only hold her hand, understand and pray.

Beyond words, memories wander.

This poem i created and wherever you are this is for you Jackie.

Here it goes:

Someday I’ll Make The Onions Cry

To cook a dish that you really like
She needs a knife to cut and slice
To heat the pan and slice the bread
With that peanut butter sandwich spread.

To make the juice that you want to drink
She needs some fruits in just a blink
To add a flavor to that tasteless cup
Dice some sugar and jazz it up.

To clean the linen for your bed
She needs to drop some scents instead
To wash away the dirt and stains
You left some nights when you astray.

To clean the shirt you’ll wear today
She needs the heat and withstand the strain
Ironing up despite the heat
She undergoes while you do the cheat.

As she opens the cookie jar
To pacify your curious child
Who asked her what’s that falling star
from her eyes when you leave that night.

She told him that tears are drops
When onions are slowly cut and chopped
To which he says that surprised her right
“Someday i’ll make the onions cry.”

Here Comes The Rain Again

poem about alzheimer's disease, joys of joel poems, what is alzheimers
Here Comes The Rain Again – A Poem about Alzheimers by Joel F.– https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com

A few lines on
a not so forgotten song

A dripping sound
made me open the windows of my home

Although it’s familiar
how could i not know

Every now and then
its rhythm keeps knocking on my door

I’m  drench but i’m not wet
got a roof above my head

I see flowers now celebrating
dancing for all the waiting

To quench their thirst
after hibernating

When sunshine sleeps
and started dreaming

But songs of yesteryear
always linger

When raindrops fall
like a hurried summer

And through it all
i still remember

The broken pen
and the unwritten letter

Unspoken words
and tears of yonder

Embrace by an old friend
Here comes the rain again.

Do You Hear The Music

do you hear the music, music and poetry, poem about music and love
Do you hear the music- – – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com

A wonderful quote by Friedrich Nietzsche inspires me to create a poetry.

In awe of the sound
a queen without a crown

a wondrous spell
heavenly hell

voices of the strings
surrendering to your king

entranced by its magic
its joys and its tragic

dancing to its rhythm
fulfilling its mission

while others are watching
but no one’s listening

for they can’t hear the music
and in silence that is golden

the master speaks its voice
waiting for your choice.
