Today’s journey is called Abbey.

Close your eyes.

In the darkness, you look down near your feet, and you discover a toy car.

What kind of car is it?

Is it modern like a Hot Wheels?

Is it all wood?

Is it tiny, or does it take up most of the size of your hand?

And you’re going to start rolling this car with your hand back and forth,

and back and forth, as if you’re winding it up.

But at somewhere, at some point along the arc, you’re going to let it go.

Which way does it travel?

Does it go out ahead of you?

Or behind?

How far does it travel?

And then magically it starts to return to you and comes to rest at your feet.

You look up in front of you and you see a door.

It’s not far away.

It’s close enough to reach out and touch.

What is the shape of the door?

What’s the color?

What’s it made of?

Reach out to open the door and notice what hand you reach forward and whether you push it out or bring it in.

Step through the door.

Where are you?

What surface are you standing on?

Can you see anything around you?

Is there a smell in the air?

Is there a breeze or is it calm?

And you’re going to walk forward five steps.

And you come to a line on the path.

What kind of line is it?

Is it another path that’s crossing in front of you?

Is it a line drawn, like with a marker?

Is it a chasm of some kind?

And you’re going to step over that line,

and you’re going to continue to walk straight ahead for ten more steps.

At the end of ten steps, you are back at the same door.

You know it’s the same door, but does it look differently?

Has the material or the color changed?

You open the door,

noticing if you open it the same way or differently,

and you step through, and there’s the toy car back where you started.
