VDI Design Guide Book Series
Like becoming a public speaker, becoming an author became a bucket list item. People like Frank Denneman and Duncan Epping had written multiple books, and sometimes gave them away after presenting at industry events. Those books were an inspiration by itself.
After passing the VCDX certification, Johan decided it was time to take on the bucket list item and write a book. The topic was something he had been focussing on for the past years, which was infrastructure design for virtual desktop infrastructures. The book (VDI Design Guide) released in 2018 was a best-seller in the niche. Still being sold today, it’s considered by many as the design bible for VDI environments.
In 2021, the successor was released; VDI Design Guide Part 2. That book focusses on use cases that could run on VDI, like developers, gamers, and even AI workloads, using the VDI by Day, Compute by Night Concept.
Ideas for a new book are in the making, but when the process starts is still a mystery.
