Missing Prosthetic Leg Found Ten Months Later

Retired nurse Brenda Ogden waited for over a year to get the customized prosthetic leg that allowed her to swim. Her leg had been amputated after a car crash, and she’d only had the prosthetic for one week before it was swept out to sea by a wave that knocked down Brenda and her swim group. Ten months later, Elizabeth Forbes found the prosthetic leg on Yorkshire Beach and returned it to Brenda. The Good News Network has more HERE.

Anonymous Gift of Gold Bricks Donated to Fix Osaka’s Aging Water System

Osaka, Japan received an anonymous gift of gold bars worth 560m yen (over 3 million dollars) specifically to fix the city’s old water pipe system. Osaka had 92 cases of water pipe leaks under the city last year, some resulting in dangerous sink holes. The Guardian has details HERE.

Israeli Hostages and Palestinian Prisoners Released during Ceasefire

As a ceasefire began yesterday in Gaza, Hamas released the remaining 20 living Israeli hostages, Israel released nearly 2,000 Palestinian detainees and prisoners, and more humanitarian aid flowed into Gaza. The ceasefire is part of a 20-point peace plan with some issues still to be worked out. Hamas also released four of 28 bodies yesterday. You can read more in this article from The Guardian. Monarch Butterfly Gets a Wing Transplant

At a nature center in New York, a monarch butterfly unable to fly due to an injured wing received a wing transplant. The center’s director, Jeanine Bendixon used a piece of wing from a deceased butterfly she found on the greenhouse floor. Watch how she did it in the video below. Monarch butterflies are nearing endangered status. This one was able to fly and start its migration south.
