23rd-Aug-2017 12:02 pm - Greetings

Hey all!  I randomly logged in the other day and saw Sam's video, and it inspired me to put down some words.

First of all, I have to share a link to the Reply All podcast about LJ.  Did you know it's surrounded in Russian controversy?  So interesting.  You all should listen...

In other news, life is plugging along at break-neck speed. Although I don't think there is all that much new to report.  Glancing at a few of my "latest" posts, it seems like the good stuff is still good, and the struggles are still the same.  I guess that's a good thing.

Me...Work. Motherhood. Health.  Always the main topics.

I'm still plugging along with Gymboree.  We have just two locations now — closed our Chula Vista location over a year ago.  I love teaching and spend a couple days per week down in San Diego.  This year has been hectic as my one Site Manager finally got pregnant with IVF twins, and then went on bed rest and is now on maternity leave.  So I've been wearing a lot of hats and am anxiously awaiting her (part-time) return in October.

The boys are old.  OMG!  12, 10, 7...7th grade, 5th grade, 1st grade.  How did that happen?  They may be old, but they are small.  Poor Justin is in the 12th percentile for height.  Takes after his late bloomer Mom and Dad.  We keep pumping him up that he WILL grow in high school just like we did.

Greetings from Cabo!
I'm sitting inside hoping cam will take a nap, while the rest of the crew is swimming outside.
We rented a house with my BFF and her family, and needless to say we're having a blast. I swear that traveling with friends is the way to go with young kids. The sibling fighting is exponentially less when there are friends to play with.
And the fact that the house has a yard and its own pool is heaven for the kids.
And of course it's great for us too. BFF lives in the Bay Area, so QT with her is limited. So it's been nice to hang with her and her husband too. Margaritas and lots of cards after the kids go to bed. (If we're not exhausted from a day at the beach. One night we all called it a night at 9:30. )
Anyway, this is my first trip to Cabo, and I'm sold. Jeff and I planned a trip 11 years ago, but a hurricane thwarted our plans. (The plan b was the trip that Jeff proposed on).
Lands end is gorgeous. We're outside of the hustle and bustle. We found the best swimmable beach ever. Tacos and margaritas a plenty. I can't wait to come back.

Alright. Cam is yelling. Gotta go. I'll be back soon with more reality Haps.
Not nearly as fun!!

26th-Jan-2013 08:31 am - Surrender

After another scream fest at 3:30am, we've decided to succumb and give him back his paci tonight at bed.
Let's hope that when we try again, he will be better ready for the transition.
The pay off of keeping a tooth safe for hours of frustration, lack of sleep, anger, etc just doesn't seem worth it anymore. I'm not kidding when I say this is THE worst parenting moment I've ever had. What kid still hasn't adjusted after 15 days!!!! That's ludicrous.
Trying not to feel like a failure, but at least I should be a more relaxed one.
Of course, this could all blow up if he continues these antics even after the paci returns. Wish us luck.

22nd-Jun-2011 11:54 am - Calling all Weissbluths

Ok. So I'm working on cam' sleep, and its a bit of a conundrum.
Good news...he slept thru the night last night.
Bad news...I'm struggling with his naps.
He wakes up anytime between 6-730am. Then goes down for a 2-hour nap between 930-1000.
BUT he hasn't taken a second nap for a week. I try everyday around 2-3pm, but he's not having it.
So off to bed at 5:30, he goes. He's beat and falls right to sleep. With wither only one wake up or none.

Could he already be down to one nap? He just turned 10 mos.
Would you give up the fight?
He's so stubborn!

ETA:  He peacefully went to sleep for a second nap at 2:40pm today.  Of course!  :P

8th-Dec-2008 07:43 am - Pet Tip
Anybody have tips on getting a dog to take a pill.  Zoe takes 5 pills a day now.  Luckily three of those are teeny tiny, but the other two are big.  And it's a pain because she's on to us now.  No longer is she excited for a chunk of cheese.  And even if she is excited for our treat, she spits the pill out.  She's gotten good.

Any tips?
31st-Jul-2007 03:31 pm - Pay Up PB Kids!
OK, so this isn't the best example since there are other names, BUT there are 3 consecutive pages in the new PBKids catalog where they use the names "Justin" and "Owen" together.   Seriously what are the chances!?!?

I think I'm owed some retribution!  I did come up with this genius combination  :D
